"Sun-Destroyer, why are you doing this?" he asked.
"You're in need of saving," I said and walked over to him.
I turned around and reached out to him. He was about to take my hand, but someone shot me in the back. I looked down at my stomach to see there was a bullet hole coming from the right side of my body. I fell onto the ground.
"No!" Overhaul yelled.
A police officer was running towards Overhaul and me. With the last remaining strength, Overhaul got up and reached his hand out to the police officer.
"DIE!" he yelled and touched the police officer's face. His entire head exploded. Overhaul's breathing become heavy as he fell next to me. He moved a strand of hair from my face and looked into my eyes.
"Why did you save me?"
I reached over and was about to grab his hand. Instead, he reached over and grabbed mine. He held it tightly and close to his body.
"Because I needed to save you. I'm the only one who truly understands you."
"But this could be the end for us."
"It's a better ending for me to be with you than to not be with you."
Everything went black from there.
I opened up my eyes to see I was laying in a hospital bed. Deku was sitting in a chair next to me, but he was dead asleep. I moved around and looked at the bullet wound. It was currently stitched up. A few minutes had passed and the door opened up. Deku sprung up from the chair and looked at who walked into the room. He looked like he was ready to fight someone.
"It's just me, Deku," Todoroki said.
"Ok," he said and sat down. "I was here all night and made sure she was ok."
Todoroki walked in, closed the door, and pulled over a chair. "How are you feeling?"
"Fine," I said. "Wait, what about Overhaul?!"
"He's currently being treated in the police station. They're going to testify him there," Deku said.
"He's going to be sent to jail?" I asked.
"Most likely. Once you're healed, they need to talk to you about your time with him. I think they just want to make sure that he didn't do anything to you."
I looked out the window. The thought of being without Overhaul at the moment scared me. It scared me that he could possibly be thrown in jail for who knows how long. They might even kill him.
"I need to see him," I said.
"Y/N, you're not even discharged from the hospital, yet," Deku grew worried. "You still need to heal."
"To hell with that. I need to see him."
"What has gotten into you?" Todoroki asked. "You were acting strange when my father was trying to get rid of him."
"Yeah. Endeavor told us everything that he saw. He said that you were protecting him," Deku said.
I avoided their gaze, "You wouldn't understand."
"Try us," Todoroki said.
"I get this feeling when I'm around him. It is this feeling of not being alone. I understand where he comes from. He's not all that bad. Yes, he may be a villain, but he is still human."
"A human who has killed multiple people with his quirk. And a human who had kept an innocent girl locked up and used her!" Todoroki said.
"I said he may be a villain, but he is still human."
"I don't know how you're going to fool the police with that statement," Deku said.
"I need to try. There is something that we see in each other."
A couple of days had passed and I was finally discharged from the hospital. I walked over to the police station to see Overhaul and to speak with the officers there. I had an idea on how to get Overhaul out of this situation. The police escorted me to where he was being held. Since he could disassemble and reassemble things, they had a very protective way about chaining his hands. It looked like his hands were in a box and there were chains around it. He wasn't in his villain outfit. He was wearing the normal orange jumpsuit, but he still had his black mask over his mouth. He was sitting against a wall when I walked over to him. He turned his head towards me and his face brightened up.
"Sun-Destroyer?" he asked and walked towards the bars.
I sat down in front of the bars and looked at him, "Overhaul."
"Why did you save me?" he asked.
"There was something inside of me that said to save you. So I did just that."
"But I am a villain. I am a person who has committed so many crimes that it is punishable by death. I kidnapped a girl to use for my own use, I kidnapped you to get information, and I killed countless people."
"How many did you actually kill?"
"Only like three."
"How can you say that is countless?"
"I've killed only three people with my bare hands. I've killed countless others by explosives or falling debris from an explosion."
I shook my head, "Whatever it takes, I will get you out of here."
"Why? Why do you want me out of here?"
I rested my hand on the bars. I know he couldn't reciprocate, but I knew he wanted to. He yearned for the feeling of my hand in his. I wanted to feel his hand in mine. Even if he did accidentally blow it off, he could always put it back.
"There is something inside both of us that yearns for one another. We complete each other. I feel that we have created a strong bond since I was with you for that long period of time. You're not a villain, Overhaul. You're still human."
He looked hopeful at me. He shook his head, "Don't give me hope, Sun-Destroyer."
"I will be the sun that will guide you," I said and stood up.
"I'd like to speak with the officers about Overhaul."
I turned towards him and smiled, "I'll see you later."
I followed them to a private room and some officers were explaining their process. They had all the information they gathered from witnesses and other sources. They were either planning sentencing him to death or lifetime in prison. I came up with something no one has ever thought about doing to a villain.
"What if I were to reform him? Change him from villain to hero?"
