The Imprisoned Hero

Chapter 2

I helped the woman to safety along with others. Deku was using his Full Cowling ability to gather as many people as he could. He got people to safety while I momentarily blinded Overhaul and his gang. I continued to blind them to give Deku time to get everyone to safety. Once everyone was safe, we stood a few feet away from Overhaul and his gang.

"Did you call for reinforcements?" I asked Deku.

"Todoroki and Kirashima are on their way," Deku said.

"How long do you think they're going to take?"

"Todoroki isn't far since he can travel on his ice. Kirashimia might take a while."

"Might as well hold him here until Todoroki comes."

Overhaul rubbed his eyes and looked at us.

"Light. The one thing I hate about quirks like yours. You always go straight for the eyes."

"I kind of need to," I said and formed the light into a spear. Deku got into a stance and green lightning flickered around his body.

Overhaul chuckled, "You must be the next generation of heroes."

"So what?"

"You lack experience. If all good heroes know, the most experienced will get the job done faster."

Todoroki came up to us and stood beside Deku.

"Who are we dealing with?" Todoroki asked.

"Overhaul," Deku said.

Todoroki nodded, "Be prepared. My father might try to step in."

"Great," I said. "I forgot he's now the number one hero."

"Despite him being the new number one, he is the one who could probably handle Overhaul," Todoroki said.

"Enough with the chit chat," Overhaul said.

"Whatever you do, don't let him touch you."

"Understood," I said.

We rushed towards him and his gang. Todoroki put his right foot down and ice surrounded some of his members. Deku and I went after Overhaul. We both knew we had to work as a team if we needed to get him down. I blinded him again, but this time, he was ready. He closed his eyes and tried to grab my foot. I used my light spear and stabbed his forearm. He yelled in pain and pulled his arm back. Deku went in from the side and kicked him in the side of his stomach. Overhaul stumbled backwards and I got another light spear ready along with a dagger. He looked over at us.

"Not bad, for a couple of new comers."

"Todoroki!" Deku called.

Using his left side, a huge burst of fire came in between me and Deku. Overhaul dodged the fire and coming in from the right was Todoroki's ice. Overhaul reacted quickly to it. He reached out and touched the ice. It broke apart within seconds.

"How did he break my ice so easily? The only other person to do that was you, Deku," Todoroki said.

"He must have a disassembly quirk," Deku said.

Overhaul grabbed another piece of ice and reassembled it to make a large pointed icicle.

"Watch out!" I yelled.

Todoroki got ready as Overhaul threw the large piece. Once it left his hand, it broke into even smaller pieces.

"Get back!" Todoroki called and formed barriers around me and Deku. He used his fire to melt the flying shards of ice. However, it wasn't enough to save Todoroki from a few of them. Some flew by him and cut along his arms and legs.

"Todoroki!" Deku called.

"I'm fine. Come on, we need to get him," he said.

"So he can disassemble and reassemble?" I asked.

"This is child's play," he said and wiped some ice that was on his shoulder. "You're barely giving me a challenge."

"We may not, but he can," I said as Endeavor walked out from the smoke. He smirked at Overhaul.

"Heard you're the new baddie," he said.

Overhaul seemed to be intimidated by Endeavor, but he did not let his fierce demeanor falter.

"Now, let's get this over with quickly," Endeavor said and cracked his knuckles.

Overhaul got in a stance and stared down Endeavor," Come and get some."

Endeavor laughed and charged towards Overhaul. I ran over to see if Todoroki was alright.

"Are you ok?" I asked and looked at the cuts.

"Yeah. They're not that deep so I can still fight."

"Leave it to the pros for now," said a few more pro heroes. They were joining in to help Endeavor with Overhaul. I helped Todoroki up and Deku came over to us. We walked out of the street and watched as the pros were having a rough time taking down Overhaul. Overhaul was trying to grab at them whenever he could, but it seemed all of them knew about his abilities. Or was at least warned about the speculation of his quirk.

The fight was getting pretty intense since Overhaul finally managed to save his other gang members. They went after other pro heroes while Endeavor focused more on Overhaul. The pros managed to get the gang members down and they joined back in with Endeavor.

"I do not need your help!" Endeavor yelled.

"Don't act all high and mighty now, Endeavor," one hero said.

"I just said I don't need help!"

Overhaul took the opening and charged towards Endeavor. Endeavor turned around to see Overhaul reach out his hand to grab Endeavor. Another hero pushed Endeavor out of the way and took the blow. Overhaul grabbed the hero's arm and tore it clean off. The hero yelled in pain as blood poured out of his wound.

"You had given me a challenge today, boys. Sadly, I will reign supreme over the villains. There is no stopping me," he said and dropped the arm on the ground.

"Lets get out of here, boys!" Overhaul yelled for his other team members. Even though they were a bit disoriented and injured, they followed their boss's orders. They left the city as the emergency team and police came to the scene. The medics took the hero and his arm to the hospital. The police and media were talking to Endeavor while the other heroes walked over to us.

"Is anyone seriously injured?" they asked.

"No," I said.

"Thank you for letting us handle it. As you can see, the fighting had gotten to a pretty big magnitude."

I nodded my head.

"Get some rest," they informed us.

Todoroki, Deku, and I parted ways and headed back to where we were staying. I was staying in an apartment. Momo was a few rooms away from me if I ever needed to talk to her. I grabbed my key and walked towards my door. I unlocked it and opened it up.
