Memories

After a while of Overhaul living with me in my apartment, he seemed a bit off. I guess it was he was in a new area and was getting used to it. I tried my best to keep it clean for him, but there are times where I forget to wash a few things here and there.

I opened the door of the apartment and saw him sitting on the balcony. I closed the door and walked over to the sliding glass door. I opened it up and he turned his head to look at me.

"You're home early," he said.

"Wasn't really much today. I don't know why they called me in for me to do nothing," I said and leaned against the railing. "What have you been doing all day?"

"Relaxing for now. I know I just got my hero license and they're probably putting me into the system. I want to have a clear mind before I go out there and focus on the villains I need to catch."

"Is there something wrong, Overhaul?"

He shook his head and looked at the street below us, "You can pick up on the tiniest detail."

"Is that a good thing of a bad thing?"

"It's a good thing in some ways, but a bad thing in others. Right now, I guess it's a good thing that you know when something's wrong."

"I can just kind of feel it. You've been with me for over five months now. I might as well try to figure you out."

He chuckled, "Yeah might as well."

"So what is wrong?"

He took in a deep breath, "I want to go back to that warehouse. I need to get something."

"Do you want me to come with you?"

"Sure. Why not."

I grabbed the keys to the apartment and we walked out of the building. I followed Overhaul to the warehouse he had transferred me to. The same warehouse that Deku had saved me only for me to return to the same hell. I looked at the warehouse and I shivered slightly. Just remembering the bad things that came out of there made me never want to go back in there. Now, here I am, standing outside of the same warehouse where my arm was blown off. Overhaul knelt down and searched around in the grass.

"Ever since they had captured me and rest of the Hassaikai, they locked all of the warehouses that were related to the Hassaikai. In case there was someone who wanted to get in. However, I kept my keys hidden." He pulled a pair of keys out from some grass. He found the right key and opened the door. He walked in and I walked in behind him.

"I won't take long. I know what I need to get."

He walked down a hallway and I walked down as well. I walked past a dark room where there was a chair in the center. There were monitors and wires coming from the back of the chair. There was a table on the side and these large tubes on the other. I walked in and tried to see what was with this chair. As soon as I walked in, I was hit with the disgusting smell of the lingering blood. I coughed and covered my nose, trying not to inhale any more of that horrid smell. I looked around and saw the tubes were labeled "Waste". What was in there that made it smell so bad? I walked around a bit more and saw there was a notebook. I flipped open the notebook and read through some notes that were taken. This was back before I had saved Eri. This was when he was using her body to make those quirk destroying bullets. That's what the smell was. I looked over at the tubes and realized that was blood that was in there. The failed experiments they did before they made the final version.

"Y/N? Y/N, where are you?"

I walked out of the room and looked over at Overhaul. He peeked over my head and saw the room I was just in. He sighed and reached behind me. He closed and locked the door.

"I never want to see that room ever again," he said and walked towards the warehouse door.

We walked out, he locked the door, and hid the keys. We walked back to the apartment.

"What did you need to get?" I asked.

"Something special to me," he said.

We entered the apartment and he set a box down on the counter. He opened the lid and I walked over to him.

"Mind if I looked with you?"

"Don't mind at all," he said.

He pulled a few things out, which were some notes and other pieces of papers. There was something that was sticking out of the papers he had grabbed. I reached over and pulled the object out. I looked at it and saw it was a picture of Overhaul and what appeared to be the Shie Hassaikai boss before Overhaul took over. I smiled as I looked at how small Overhaul was.

"What do you have there?" Overhaul asked.

"Just a picture of you when you were younger."

He reached over and grabbed the photo. He looked at it and I could tell he had a sad smile underneath his mask.

"That was when the boss had found me. He gave me a second chance. Then I ruined that chance and you gave me another chance."

"He gave you a second chance to live a life. I gave you a second chance to become a hero. You've had some really important people in your life, Overhaul."

Overhaul nodded his head as he stared longingly at the photo. He put it back in the box with the other papers and notes. He put the top of the box on it and looked at it.

"Why did you need to get it?"

Overhaul patted the box as if was a dog. He had a bit of a bitter sweet smile on his face.

"For memories."
