"We have word that the League of Villains hijacked the truck that was taking Overhaul to Tartarus. They say that they removed Overhaul of both of his arms. Making him no longer a threat to society since he cannot use his quirk, but will be held up in jail for the rest of his life."
I put my face in my hands and sighed. I shook my head as I remembered everything happening. I was his prisoner and it was during that time I had started to fall for him. It wasn't falling hard. More like falling down a small hole. Now, it felt like I was falling down an even bigger hole. I knew they were after him and I led them right to him. After Deku had saved me and I went back to 'work' with him, they were after him. It was all my fault that the pros had caught him. There was nothing I could do now than accept the fact that I would never see him again. Unless.
"Are you serious?" Deku asked.
"Does it look like I'm joking?" I stared at him.
"N-No. Not at all. I guess I don't understand why you want to see him after all he did to you. He did horrible things not only to you, but to Eri as well."
"Eri is safe and she will never have to deal with that man ever again. It's just that, I was responsible for his capture."
"That's what heroes do."
"But at that point in time, I wasn't a 'hero.' I was 'working' with him. To him, I was part of his gang and one of his gang members led him to getting captured. I feel like this is my fault."
"Y/N, I may not understand what is going on inside that head of yours, but you need to understand what I am about to tell you."
I nodded my head.
"He is a villain and he will always be a villain. Nothing can change that. Even if you weren't a hero at that specific point in time, you signed up to take down the evil in this world. You signed up to capture any villain in any sort of way. You need to move on and see him for what he truly was."
"A monster," I said.
"Exactly."
It pained me to say that he was a monster, but there was something between us. Something I couldn't describe to anyone else. If I was able to see him, I don't think I'd be able to explain it to him. I sighed to myself.
"So I take it as a no?"
"You can talk to people there. They might let you since you were the one to help us capture him."
"Right, right," I said. "Thanks, Deku." I walked out of the U.A. building and headed towards my apartment. His words rang throughout my head.
"You need to move on and see him for what he truly was."
He's right. I can't let a villain plague my mind. Even if he did have some of his charming moments, he was a villain through and through. I had to constantly remind myself that as the next few weeks went on. I had to do more hero work and look after Japan. I couldn't think too much about the situation with Overhaul. But he kept creeping back into my thoughts.
Every where I went, something always reminded me of him. Either how some people were dressed and acted. To how people spoke to one another while I was patrolling. One thing that set me off was when I patrolling. I walked past a store that was talking about the news. I walked past when they were talking once more about Overhaul. They showed his picture when he was being taken by the police. It was after the fight with Deku and Eri. Deku had punched him so hard that his mask flew off of his face. There was blood dripping down his entire face that they had to censor some of it. I completely stopped and looked at the screen. They were talking about the case and how it resulted in his capture. They brought me up and the people around me were applauding. I was too entranced to notice.
"Sunlight, is everything alright?" Momo asked me. I was on patrol with her.
I snapped back into reality. I looked at Momo and then back at the screen. It switched to a different topic. I looked back at Momo and walked towards her.
"Y-Yeah. I'm fine," I said. "Let's finish the patrol."
I finished the patrol and immediately went to Tartarus. I needed to talk to him to get him out of my thoughts. I talked to a few people there and they let me go back. I walked down the hall and listened to the other inmates yelling and cursing at one another. I stared at the door that was labeled VOLATILE. I peered through the small window and saw Overhaul was strapped to a chair. They really did take his arms. They had taken both of his forearms off. Everything from the elbow up was still there. I opened up the door and walked in. Overhaul slowly lifted his head and that cold glare was plastered all over his face. He didn't have a mask to hide behind anymore. I sat down and looked at him. Pain filled my heart to see him this way. He was angry, pissed is more suitable. He was probably cursing in his head. But out of everything he was right now, pissed, frustrated, he was helpless.
"What the hell are you doing here?" his spat with venom.
I looked at the ground before opening my mouth, "I-I'm sorry."
"Don't pity me," he sneered.
"I am not pitying you, Overhaul."
"Then why come all the way here to talk to me? A damn villain."
"I needed to tell you something."
"Out with it!" he sneered. "I don't have all day!"
"Everything that had happened. You getting captured, you losing your arms as well as the ability to use your quirk, and now sitting here for the rest of your life. It was my fault."
His cold glare loosened and for once, he looked broken. Maybe even sad.
"You can't regret everything you did," Overhaul said. "Remember what I said. Don't falter. Don't regret. Don't freeze. Take that as a lesson when you're out there capturing more villains. Besides, most of it was my fault. That's what happens when you're a villain being hunted down by the heroes. The bad guy always loses."
"You didn't lose everything."
"I lost everything! I lost my most loyal members, I lost the yakuza, I lost my most ambitious project to the damn league of bastards, I lost my arms and my quirk."
"You didn't lose me," I said.
He had a hope glimmer in his eyes.
"Just because you lost your arms and quirk doesn't mean you lost everything. As long as you have one person here that you know will never leave your side, it's not a complete and total loss."
He gave me a small smile, "B-But I will never see you again. I-I will never be able to feel you ever again."
I nodded my head slowly and looked at the ground, "Yeah. T-That is true."
"Y/N, your twenty minutes are up. Time for you to leave."
"Will you come back?" Overhaul asked.
I slowly stood up, "I don't know."
"Alright."
"Bye, Overhaul."
"Please, call me Chisaki."
"Alright, Chisaki."
I walked out of the room and closed the door. In the beginning, he was cold as ice. After a while, the ice was thawed out and there was some warmth in his life. I was that warmth and now I am the only thing that he is going to hold onto and never let go. I changed his life. And he will continue to change as long as I am in his life.
