The Imprisoned Hero

Chapter 8

My eyes fluttered open to see a white wall in all directions. I looked around and saw there was a window to my left. I looked to my right to see my vitals were steady. I sighed and rested my head against the pillow. Unfortunately I had remembered everything that had happened earlier. Three excruciating weeks with Overhaul was not fun. Not to mention how many times he had attempted to torture me. A few minutes passed by and the door opened up.

"You're ok!" Deku smiled.

I weakly smiled back at him. Coming in from behind Deku was Momo and Todoroki. Kirishima was with them as well. They entered the room and sat around the bed.

"What happened while I was held captive?" I asked.

"All of the pro heroes were informed that you were kidnapped by Overhaul. They were doing their best to figure out where Overhaul was hiding. Even all of us were trying to help them track you down. We were just trying to find you and bring you back safely," Deku said.

"It was all our faults that had happened to you," Todoroki said. "We're very sorry we couldn't save you back then."

"It's ok, Todoroki. I'm fine now."

"Not really," Deku said.

"Is it my arm?" I asked.

They all nodded.

"Not only that, your legs were badly broken. Recovery girl had to come in and fix them," Deku said.

"We tried to recover it from Overhaul, but he wasn't about to give it up without a fight," said Todoroki.

"Why?"

"He's extracting DNA from all of us," Momo said.

"How are they doing that?"

"Either by blood, skin, or hair. We have yet to know what Overhaul is going to do," Kirishima said.

"Where is he now?" I asked.

"In one of his many bases. There is no main base we have found," Deku said.

"They're trying to keep themselves secret while they work on their plan," I said.

"Why do you ask?" asked Momo.

"I need to talk to him."

"You're going to do it alone," Todoroki said.

"I have a plan then," I said.

"Walk us through it," Deku said.

"While I was held captive, he said I would make a great villain. So that is what I will do. I will become part of his gang, get my arm back, figure out what he is doing, and give you information."

"Do you think he will figure you out?" Kirishima asked.

"He might, but it is a risk I am willing to take to figure out what he is doing."

"We just don't want to lose you, Y/N," Momo said.

"I know that is all of your worries, but we must take this risk so we can get more information on Overhaul."

"This is where he is currently," Deku said and showed me a map of Japan. I nodded my head.

"Once I get out of here, I am going to find him."

A few days had passed and I was finally discharged from the hospital. I got my hero outfit on and headed to where Deku showed me. There was this huge warehouse on a giant cliff. I walked up the trail and made it to the top within about an hour or so. I took in a deep breath and calmed my nervousness. I walked over to the door and pounded on it. A small window opened up and I saw Overhaul's eyes.

"Y/N," he said. "Why are you back?"

I lifted up my arm, "I need the other part of my arm back."

"True, true. Are you alone?"

"Yes," I said.

The window closed and the door opened up. I walked in and Overhaul quickly closed and locked the door.

"There has to be another reason why you're here."

"I would like to take you up on your offer."

"You really want to become one of us?" Overhaul asked as his eyes widened slowly.

"Yes."

Overhaul looked a bit skeptical, "We need to gain your trust after what happened."

"I swear it wasn't me who led them here. I had no means of communication."

"That is true. We did strip you of anything we thought that would be any means of communication. Very well, but we need to perform initiation."

"Initiation?" I asked.

"Yes. Come follow me," he said and walked towards the back half of the warehouse. I followed him and there were his gang members surrounded by a fire that was in a trash can. Overhaul turned around and grabbed my dismembered arm from one of the boxes. I held out my arm and he took my other half.

"This is going to hurt like hell," he said and put my arm back into place.

I yelled in pain and knelt onto the ground. I moved my arm around to see it was still functional. I slowly got up and looked at him.

"What is your initiation?"

"Place your hand in the fire."

"I'm sorry."

"Place your hand in the fire when I tell you to."

I walked over to the fire and placed my hand above it. The other gang members stood up and crowded around me.

"We welcome our new member of the gang. She will no longer be known as Sunlight. She will burn the side of her that she once was and will be reborn. Coming from the ashes will be Sun-destroyer. Now, place your hand in the fire."

I took in a deep breath and placed my hand in the fire. It sat there for a few seconds.

"Remove it."

I removed my hand and screamed a bit.

"Now is the birth of Sun-destroyer. I, Overhaul, welcome you to the Shie Hassaikai yakuza."

"Welcome," said the other gang members.

"As first order of business, you are to collect these samples from these people," Overhaul said and led me over to a bulletin board. He turned on a light and on the desk was three photos of three people. One was Momo, another was Todoroki, and the last one was Deku.

"As for your hero outfit, we're going to need to change that. One of my members will get started on that right away so you can get these samples as soon as possible."

I nodded my head, "Understood."

"Once we have their samples, we can start to work on the next phase of my plan."

"What are you planning?"

"My original plan was to give these quirks back to their rightful owner, but seeing them for my very own eyes, I might as well use them for myself. Especially Deku and Todoroki's. Kirishima and Bakugo's might come in handy as well."

"So you're going to strip them of their quirks?"

"Yes."
