Chapter Sixteen

Delaney

He's dumb, completely reckless and annoying and-

I stopped when my feet stopped moving and hands were on my arms, a forehead rested against my right shoulder.

"Delaney." he whispered my name like it pained him to see me leaving.

"Your drunk." I whispered back.

"Tipsy." he responded.

I turned around to find his eyes on mine. "Drunk." I placed my hand on his cheek and he smiled.

"Drunk." he whispered.

I turned my heel and walked away, getting in my car before driving off.

The lights were too bright for me, the sound of L.A was suffocating me. This place made me feel sick, it made me feel claustrophobic, like I was being stuffed in a box.

I parked right outside of the coffee shop and walked right in.

"We're closing in ten minutes." the man said.

"I won't be here long."

"What would you like?" he asked me.

"Hot chocolate."

"Coming right up."

After five minutes he brought me my drink and handed it to me.

"Can I sit here until you close?" I asked him.

"Yeah." he nodded.

I sat down at my usual spot and instead of the constant rumble of conversation or the bubble of laughter all I heard was the sound of the broom against the tile floor, and the clock ticking to ten. The calendar read November tenth, with a cute pug dressed in red sweater and orange ear muffs, it was smiling with its tongue dangling out of his mouth. The background held multiple warm colors you'd find on a tree during the fall time. It made me miss home, just a little. I remember walking in the house, my mom hung up fall decorations, she'd go all out. Hang up pictures for each season. She loved it, made her feel so alive. She stopped a year before. The memory faded as I removed my gaze from the calendar and towards the outdoors. The people outside slowing down and laughing about something the other said.

The night in L.A woke the city up. But no matter what time of day it is I'm constantly asleep. Constantly in a lucid dream. I know I'm awake but I still feel asleep.

I walked into the apartment and Axel stood up from the table where his friends were.

He came over to me and suddenly hugged me, like he missed me and he didn't care who saw.

"Axel?" I whispered his name.

His grip tightened like he didn't want to speak.

Travis got up and he smiled, Travis never smiled, he smirked but never smiled.

"Axel's been asking where you went." Travis came closer to me.

"Uhh it's two in the morning, what are you guys doing here?" I asked suddenly.

I only trust Axel, but he was almost passed out drunk.

"Axel brought us over." Draven got up which made me more nervous.
