I woke up to the sound of my pounding alarm going off. I switched it off and did a quick stretch. It was officially my first day of becoming a surgical intern at Seattle Grace. I had a quick shower before changing into a jumper, a pair of trousers and a coat. Before driving off to the hospital. I was so excited to finally understand why my parents chose this career path. When I arrived at the hospital I saw a lot of people from the mixer. We were being given a tour by the current chief of surgery Dr Webber, he took us to an OR and gave us a speech while we looked around. "Each of you comes here today hopeful, wanting in on the game. A month ago you were in med school, being taught by doctors. Today you are the doctors. The 7 years you spend her as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five of you will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play that's up to you." He told us, I looked around at everyone. After we'd looked around we went to the locker room and changed into our scrubs with coats over the top with stethoscopes around our necks.
I was unfortunately put on The Nazi's service. I had no idea what to expect. "Okay, Martin, Robinson, Bond, Hawkins." One of the doctors called. The four of them left the room.
"Only 6 women out of 20." I heard someone say, I think her name was Meredith Grey if I could remember rightly.
"Yeah, I hear one of them's a model and there's also a British one. Seriously, that's gonna help with the respect thing?" I heard someone else say, I think she was called Cristina Yang.
"You're Cristina, right?" Meredith asked her. I quickly shut my locker and just looked around, I felt so out of place every had gone to Stanford or some over place then there was me. The girl who went to Oxford.
"Patton, Monroe..." one of the other residents said calling out more interns. I quickly tied my hair up and tightened it.
"Which resident are you assigned to?" Cristina asked. "I got Bailey." She said while looking back in her locker.
"The Nazi? Me too." Meredith said.
"I got the Nazi as well, do any of you know what she's like?" I said to them well making sure I had everything.
"I'm guessing you're the girl from England." Cristina said.
"Guilty. I'm Y/n, Y/n Y/l/n." I said while introducing myself.
"You got the Nazi? So did I." Said a guy from behind me who's name I didn't know. "At least we'll be tortured together, right?" He asked us. "I'm George O'Malley. Uh, we met at the mixer. You had on a black dress with a slit up the side, straps sandals, and now you think I'm gay. No, I'm not gay. It's - -it's just that you were - -" He said to Meredith. He got a little closer to us but Cristina had left when he got a little to close.
"You were very unforgettable." Meredith told him.
"It's nice meeting you George." I said to him with a smile.
"It's nice meeting you too Y/n." He said to me with a smile.
"O'Malley, Yang, Grey, Y/l/n, Stevens." Someone called out. Me and Meredith walked away leaving George behind.
"That's the Nazi?" Cristina asked as me, her and Meredith looked down the hall. She was smaller than I'd imagined.
"I thought the Nazi would be a guy." George said to us.
"I thought the Nazi would be so much taller for intimidating reasons." I said while looking at the petite woman.
"I thought the Nazi would be a Nazi." Meredith said as we walked towards her.
