It was early hours when I woke up. I had a shower and changed before making myself some breakfast and a cup of coffee. When I made it to the hospital I did everything I do normally and walked with Bailey and the rest of my group. "Fools on bikes, killing themselves- -natural selection is what it is." Bailey told us annoyed at the stupidity that most people had.
"So what's up with the Nazi? Is she off her meds?" Alex asked George.
"You never heard of the race?" George asked him. I had no idea what the race was.
"Chief, 'dead baby' bike race started 20 minutes ago." Bailey told chief Webber before we all followed Bailey.
"All right, people! Dead baby bike-race day!" I heard Chief Webber call out.
"Every year, this bar-" George started explaining before Mer cut him off.
"-The dead baby bar." She said telling us what it was called. What sick twisted person named that bar.
"Every year, the hold this underground bike race." George told us before we put on our disposable gowns.
"Don't you wonder why someone would name a bar something so disgusting?" Izzie asked out loud, at least I wasn't the only one thinking of the answer.
"Keep your panties on, Nancy Drew." Cristina told Izzie.
"But honestly who does that." I said out loud.
"The race is completely illegal and-" George said not ending his sentence.
"Crazy." Meredith said. George quickly tied me up after he'd sorted his gown out. "Bike messengers racing against traffic, trying to beat each other for free shots of tequila." Mer added.
"All-out, no-holds barred competition sounds like fun." Alex said as if he would actually want to take part.
"You would think that." Izzie said making me smile a little.
"The race doesn't even have any rules- -except eye-gouging- -no eye-gouging." George told us. After he'd tied himself up at the back he tied me up. I gave him a quick smile in return.
"We're gonna be trapped in the pit band-aiding idiots when we could be up in the O.R." Cristina said to us.
"Sounds like a dream." I said sarcastically. I was just hoping I wouldn't get stuck with suturing people up.
"What kind of people engage in a race that has, as it's only rule, that you can't rip out the eyeballs of another human being?" George asked rhetorically.
"Men, Georgie. Men." Alex told him.
"I need someone to get up to the O.R. floor. The chief needs a right hand." Bailey said and all of us except from Mer put our hands up. She sighed and chose "George." We all sighed and looked over at him.
"Okay, people the rules of trauma- -don't mingle with E.R. interns- -they don't know their ass from their esophogus . See fast, discharge faster. Get bodies up to the O.R. and don't let me catch you fighting over patients. Got it?" She said to us, I simply nodded. "Come on. Let's go." She said we all went one way while George went in the opposite direction.
"Oh, It's like candy, but with blood, which is so much better!" Cristina said excitedly
"It's like pick-and-mix but with people this is amazing but not amazing at the same time." I said happily while looking around.
"Oh, my god." Izzie said while looking at someone.
"Mine." Cristina said taking the patient. I looked to the side and saw someone with a head injury and possibly a broken leg so I called dibs and took him.
