I was hoping that today would be normal for once, hadn't really experienced one on them kinda days around here in a while. As I was walking the halls of the hospital, I noticed a sheet on the notice board. It reflected the hospital well but I already knew that Cristina wouldn't like it. I was notified that the surgery that I was scrubbing into with Callie was being moved all because of one of the nurses. I grabbed myself the usual cup of coffee, I saw Cristina looking at the post that was up so I backed up and walked away. When it got to case presenting with Hahn, I stood next to Alex. Like usual.

"Who would like to present?" She asked, we all put our hands up except from Cristina. Hahn handed the file over to Alex.

"Uh, Kyra Marshall, history of end-stage cardiomyopathy and C.O.P.D., now awaiting a heart transplant, but her antibody levels were so elevated, and was in danger of rejecting any donor heart." Alex said, I looked at him before looking over to Cristina who was just slumping in the corner.

"So how did we counteract that?" She asked, again we all put our hands up but she chose Lexie.

"We've been giving her high levels of chemotherapy to suppress her immune system." Lexie said confidently, I liked it when someone answered a question with confidence. It shows what kind of a person they are.

"And what precautions have we taken to make sure that she is not exposed to infection?" Hahn asked and for the third time we all raised our hands. "Yang, am I boring you? Because if you'd rather spend the day in the morgue. I have about 50 cadaver hearts that need to be harvested for my research. So Kyra Marshall's protocols- -" Hahn said to her, I would love to have the day in the morgue. Maybe it would actually be a normal day down there.

"I would love to go to the morgue. Thank you." Cristina said before walking off.

"I'd like to go as well, I need a quiet day." I said before following on. We walked to the morgue in silence. I also knew that I wouldn't be able to see a woman wanting to hug her kids and her husband. I just couldn't be there, so it was another reason that I needed to go to the morgue. Lexie snuck off and joined us as well. Me and Cristina were working on different cadavers.

"Uh, Dr. Yang, are you okay? I mean, I-I just wanted to check because you passed up a really awesome transplant case with Dr. Hahn, and I...um...is this about the thing with Dr. Burke?" She asked, I made a 'cut it out' gesture. "I-I know that y-you two were together and..." Lexie said, Cristina looked at her and she stopped talking.

"Let's just have a bit of silence." I said with a nod, I was on the opposite side of the room to Cristina.

"I made it through the wilderness somehow I made it through didn't know how lost I was until I found you I was beat." Cristina started singing, I didn't know what to think. All I knew was this was one of my favourite Madonna songs.

"Um..." Lexie got out.

"Incomplete." Me and Cristina sung together.

"Should I be doing something?" Lexie asked us.

"I'd been had." We sang.

"Can I help you in- -" Lexie started asking but me and Cristina just sang over her.

"I was sad and blue but you made me feel yeah, you made me feel shiny and new like a virgin." Me and Cristina sang.

"Hey." Lexie sang,

"Touched for the." The three of us sang together but me and Cristina stopped.

"Very first time like a vir- -" Lexie sang by herself, she stopped when me and Cristina looked at her. She cleared her throat. "I'll just go upstairs and go charting. I..." Lexie said before leaving the room.

"Like a virgin when your heart beats next to mine." Me and Cristina sang, we just sang the whole song together. This was a great day, it definitely wasn't normal because of the singing that was happening but it was a good day. I never knew that Cristina was a Madonna fan. Of course we were still getting these cadaver hearts out. Me and Cristina could definitely become a singing duo. We'd be great, it's definitely something we could do if our medical careers end after boards or something. We ended up singing the song again but we put a bit more into it this time. "Your so fine and you're mine." Me and Cristina sang again.

"Stop singing." Meredith said to us, I hadn't even noticed that she entered the room.

"Make me strong yeah, you make me bold 'cause your love thawed out." We sang, Mer approached Cristina.

"You're gonna win your own Harper Avert award." Mer was saying but we were singing over the top.

"Yeah, your love." We continued.

"Burke wouldn't have a career..." Mer was still talking.

"Thawed out." We sang again.

"If it hadn't been for you." She continued.

"What was scared and cold." We continued, I was hoping that Mer would leave soon.

"You saved him when he had his tremor. The Harper Avery board may not know it, but does." Mer continued it was getting up to the best part.

"Like a virgin hey touched for the very first time." We sang again, we always sing the 'heys' really loudly.

"I'm in therapy..." Mer said, we stopped and looked at her. "'Cause he's with Rose, I'm- -I'm way more screwed up than you are." She added, I was all kinds of messed up.

"Thank you. That makes me feel a little better." Cristina said thanking her.

"You're welcome." Mer said before leaving us. Me and Cristina were paged to do the surgery but my temperature was a little high so I had to stick with Alex which didn't bother me. George came and handed me a piece of paper where I had to state everyone that I'd slept with out of the people that worked her.

"Quick question, are paramedics included?" I asked George he looked at me wide eyed. "I'll take that as a no." I said before filling it out. I handed it back to him. I then went to sit with the family, Alex was there but he left. I left to get something to eat but I then got paged. When I arrived Alex was already there and Mrs. Marshall was gazing for air.

"She's having trouble breathing." Mr. Marshall said to us.

"Decreased breath sounds on the right side. I think her lung has dropped. Page Hahn." Alex said to the nurse.

"Right away, Dr. Karev." The nurse said before leaving the room.

"She's not moving!" Mr. Marshall said the monitor was beating erratically. Alex started entering the room.

"Alex, you can't go in there." I said to him but he didn't listen.

"What are you doing? You can't go in there. You can't break the isolation barrier." Mr. Marshall said to us.

"Mr. Marshall, you need to get your kids outta here." Alex said to him.

"I'll take them." I said while putting my hands out, the grabbed them.

"Is she dying?" Mr. Marshall asked, I started walking out of the room with the girls.

"Mr. Marshall, your kids." Alex said to him.

"Don't let her die. Please don't let her die." Mr. Marshall said breaking down the girls let go off me and ran to their dad.

"Okay, Jessie and Zoe, this is a scary part, so I need you both to face the other way. Just look at me. Dr. Karev, knows what he's doing. I'll tell you when you can look again." I said to them, I crouched down in front of them both and watched Alex. When I heard the sound of air releasing I smiled.

"Okay, Zoe, Jessie, it's okay. You can look at your mommy now." Alex said to them, they both looked at her. Alex was going to be in so much trouble.

"Mommy's okay." Mr. Marshall said to the girls. "Oh, god." He said letting out a cry.

"It's okay. It's okay." Alex said before giving them a quick smile. I left the room afterwards because I wanted to finish with the donor hearts, the whole time I was singing Like A Virgin, this room was like a karaoke room. I finished up and went back upstairs. I was on-call so I decided to find a bed in the hallway and sleep. Today was definitely not normal but it was a nice day.
