7. The Self-Destruct Button

It had been a hard couple of first months. I'd decided to end whatever me and Alex but we were still friends. I got up and immediately had a cup of coffee before showering and changing. Then I drove off to work. When I got there I was the only one in our friend group to be in the locker room. "How come you got here so early?" Izzie asked me.

"Maybe it's because I live 5 minutes away, other than that I don't really have an answer." I said to her.

"I'm gonna need a major rush to make it through this day. I need a kick-ass surgery." George said making me smile.

"Don't we all." I said to him.

"Ooh, you a bad boy last night, George?" Alex asked, I just rolled my eyes.

"That would be Meredith." Izzie said.

"You a bad boy, Meredith?" Alex asked her.

"Do tell." Cristina said.

"Please feel free to share." I said to her.

"Nothing to tell." Mer said, me and Cristina shared a look.

"That says it all, huh?" Cristina asked. Izzie slammed her locker door.

"Sorry, I have a sex life." Mer said to the highly annoyed Izzie.

"Don't apologize. Embrace it. Share it. Count me in." Alex said acting like a creep.

"Yeah, next time, just let me know if I need to go to a hotel so I can get some sleep." Izzie told Mer. I'm guessing that Izzie didn't sleep.

"Am I missing something?" Meredith asked George and Izzie.

"You were just a little loud." George said before leaving with Izzie and Alex. Just leaving me, Mer and Cristina.

"Do they know it's McDreamy keeping them up all night?" Cristina said using a nickname for Shepard.

"I hope not. I already have Bailey riding me, I don't need my roommates thinking I'm getting special treatment." Mer said to us.

"And let's just hope they don't find out." I said to her. The three of us went into the hallway.

"O'Malley, Yang, Karev, Y/L/N, go on to the clinic." Bailey said the 4 of us walked straight down to the pit.

"I don't think I've ever spent a day not in the pit." I said to them.

"Embrace it." Alex said to me. After a couple of minutes Alex and Cristina walked off and me and George stayed together. We were helping a little girl today, her leg kept twitching.

"Ahh. And you noticed her foot twitching?" George said to her parents. "Come on, Jamie." George told Jamie.

"My foot." She said giving me her foot.

"Oh, yeah." Her dad said.

"About three months ago?" George said giving them a factor to work with,

"Just a little. We took her to county hospital, and she got the C.T. scan, which showed her--" Her mum started but she couldn't think of the word.

"Brain abnormality. Here you can put it." George said her parents then to Jamie.

"How often does she get the twitching in her leg?" I asked her parents.

"About 10 times a day." Her mum answered.

"And the twitching has gotten worse?" George asked them.

"A lot worse. They don't have the proper equipment back home to figure out what's wrong." Mr. Hayes told us.

"You did a--you did a good thing. Yes, your mommy." George said to Mr. and Mrs. Hayes.
