16. Something To Talk About

When I woke up I was straight into autopilot. When I got to work I could only hear people talking about Meredith. I quickly texted Stan before putting my phone in the locker. I walked into the corridor and walked with George and Cristina. "Well, we have to do something." George said to us, Cristina yawned from beside him. "Meredith's become, like, an exhibit like the- -hey- -like a zoo animal, like that rare panda that everyone stares at." George told us. Stopping to say hi to Izzie as she joined the conversation. He took a bite of his banana.

"Please don't say that to her face. I think that panda died alone." Izzie told us. Me and Cristina chuckled.

"This could just as easily be you if people knew about you and..." George said to Cristina before stopping himself.

"You take that back." Cristina told him.

"No. I'm just sayin' we should do somethin' to cheer her up." George told us.

"Like what exactly." I said to him.

"Don't worry about it." Izzie said to him.

"It's under control." Cristina said to him.

"Is it that thing?" I asked them they both smiled. "Yeah, everything will be alright." I told George.

"What-  -what do you guys have goin' on?" George asked us.

"Nothing." We all said at the same time.

"What?" George asked while looking at us. We went on rounds and Alex was late.

"Where's Karev?" Bailey asked us.

"Probably off somewhere not kissing somebody." Izzie said making me laugh a little.

"Let's go O'Malley." Bailey said to him.

"Ahem, hey, so, um, after rounds, we have something to show you." Cristina told Meredith.

"Mer? Meredith, can you hear us?" Izzie said.

"She's not deaf." Cristina said to Izzie.

"There's need to ask if she can hear us when she can hear us perfectly." I told Izzie.

"Well, she looks weird." Izzie said to us as if Meredith wasn't here.

"What do you expect? Derek didn't pick her. She's gone mental." Cristina told Izzie.

"You'd be the same." I told Iz.

"Meredith, have you gone mental?" Izzie asked Mer.

"I have not gone mental." Meredith told Izzie.

"See? Okay, she's fine. We have something to show you. So what ever you do, do not get assigned to a surgery this morning. It's really good." Cristina told Meredith. Derek and Addison walked out the elevator.

"Give it a chance, Derek." She told him.

"I gave it a chance." He told her exhaustedly. The rest of us walked away and Mer just stood there. Cristina went to get her.

"Mrs. Kimberly Griswold. A history of heart disease and multiple surgeries. In for a heart quadruple C.A.B.G." Cristina told us presenting the case.

"You're late." Izzie told Alex as he walked in.

"Yes, Karev, nice of you to join us." Burke said while looking at Alex. "Why keep the heart beating, Dr. Yang?" He asked Cristina.

"I don't know." She answered. Burke looked at Bailey.

"What?" Bailey said in response.

"What?" Burke said while looking at Cristina.

"I have no idea." Cristina replied. Bailey looked at me.
