It was the day after, I'd gotten home that night and changed. When I woke up in the morning I went over to Mer's house and stood outside the bathroom Izzie. Seeming as they'd called me over. "She's been in there all night." Cristina said to me.

"Let me talk to her." I said, George walked out of the bathroom. I walked in and led next to her. "Hey, Iz. Listen I understand what you're going through okay. You can trust me." I said to her.

"Listen I get it but this is different." She said to me.

"Izzie, the only difference is I'm a twice divorced widow. You're not a widow, I am. Listen one of the best things to do is work." I said to her but she wasn't listening.

"Anything?" George asked me.

"Nothing, I'm gonna work it takes my mind off things." I said to them before driving to work. I was happy once I was in my safe space. I got paged to the E.R. along with Alex and we both saw a paramedic carrying a baby in.

"What's goin' on?" Alex asked him.

"Premature newborn found in a trash can at Turner prep school. The umbilical cords still attached." He said to us, that was wrong.

"You didn't start an I.V.? He's dehydrated." Alex said to them.

"We couldn't find a vein." The paramedic told us, Olivia walked over as Alex was checking the baby's heartbeat.

"We need to get an I.V. access. Get us an I.O. needle, and we need a neonatal intubation kit. Olivia, go! Move. Now." Alex said to her but she stood still.

"They pulled me from the floor. I'm just down here helping with the flu overflow." She said to us, me and Alex looked around seeing people coughing constantly. "Alex, Y/n, how old's that baby?" She asked us a few hours at most. I saw Alex doing something from the corner of my eye. I was confused. "Wait, wait, wait. What are you doing?" She asked as he was picking up the infant.

"You think we're going to leave this sick, premature infant in the E.R. - -" Alex started before Olivia cut him off.

"He has to be admitted. You can't just take him." She said to us.

"Olivia, please just page Addison Shepherd! Just page Addison Shepherd and tell her to meet us up in the NICU." I said to her as we walked away. We took the baby up to the NICU and put it straight into an incubator.

"Karev. Y/l/n." Addison said while walking in.

"Premature newborn male with petechiae." Alex told her as she looked through the smile.

"What's his platelet count?" She asked us.

"It's currently at 17, 000." I said to her while looking down at the newborn.

"17,000? Did you transfuse platelets?" She asked us.

"Yes, but it didn't help." He answered.

"Where's the mother?" She asked us confusedly, if only we knew.

"We don't know." I said answering her question.

"Dr. Karev and Dr. Y/l/n...I'm not asking you where the mother is for my health. I except you to use your brain. Where is the mother?" She again, we were telling the truth, we didn't know.

"We don't know! The baby was found in a trash can at a night school." Alex answered, it was prep school but same thing I guess,

"They left him in a trash can." Addison said shocked.

"He has some inner abdominal bleeding on the C.T. you want to run a few more test?" I asked her, she didn't respond.

"Dr. Shepherd?" Alex asked her getting her attention.
