I didn't know how long I'd been sat there, all I know is I must've fallen asleep at some point. I started getting paged. "I need to go and see the kid I rescued. Can you tell me what's happened when I come back?" I said to them, while standing up.
"Of course." Derek said before I left to go and check on Carlos. I knew that I would have to prepare myself in case she left us but I didn't want to. I got up to Carlos' room, he was awake.
"Hello, what seems to be the issue?" I asked them with a smile.
"He wants to know what he can do about his paralysis?" Mrs. Malone asked me.
"I think that we should sit down for that because there is a lot." I said to them. They sat down and I started talking about how we needed for him to be able to transfer into a wheelchair before I'll allow him to be discharged. I also told them about how we could try him with physio in a few months. Once that was over and done with I went down to the clinic.
"Are you here to donate blood?" Sydney asked me.
"Yeah, I can tell you my blood type first if you need me too." I said before walking over to one of beds, there was a lot of people, probably waiting for updates.
"That would help out a lot." She said to be before getting the needle ready.
"So my blood type is, AB-. My sister will probably come down and donate. But she has no idea what her blood type is, luckily I do." I said to Sydney making her laugh.
"What was the scene like?" Sydney asked changing the subject.
"It was just like a sea of people, there were so many people crying and shouting. But I wasn't in that area for long because I had to go and this kid." I said to her, she stuck the needle in and my blood started coming out, we were having a normal conversation. She's not actually that bad when you start talking to her like a normal person. Yes, she can still be annoying and irritating but she's not actually that bad. Once she was done I went to the locker room and changed.
I saw George in the hallway. "Any news?" I asked him, he shook his head.
"Nothing." He said, I continued walking and saw Kennedy. I stopped her and pulled her into a hug.
"Oh, my god what's happened?" She asked me concernedly.
"It's Meredith, she was in an accident and we don't know if she's going to be okay." I said to her while crying.
"Oh, gosh. Hey, listen to me. She will make it. She's a tough woman." Kennedy said. "You should go and be with her." She said, I nodded and went to the room that Mer was in.
"Y/n." Bailey said as I walked in. I stood next to Cristina who was holding Mer's feet.
"Try again." She said to Bailey and Webber.
"Try again!" I shouted at them. Bailey nodded.
"Okay, one more round of A.C.L.S. drugs?" Bailey asked Webber.
"One more." Webber said before they started on the next round. Me and Cristina were just hoping that something would happen, some of proof to show she's still here. Her heart monitor started going again.
"Sinus Brady." Bailey said to them. I was hopeful now.
"Okay." Burke said.
"We got a heartbeat." Bailey said, I was about to cry happy tears.
"We got it." Burke said after listening to her heart. She woke up and they removed the tube from her mouth. Addison entered the room.
"She's breathing on her own?" Addison said with a smile, at least we didn't lose her. She's the only person who understands me.
"She is." Bailey said happily.
"She's been down a long time. Do we know the brain function yet?" Addison asked us, not yet but I'm sure we can get something out of her.
"We don't know." Bailey said to her.
"Derek? Does..." Addison said trailing off, oh god we haven't paged him. He's probably worrying like anything.
"I haven't paged him yet. I wanted...I'm giving them more time." Bailey said before her and Addison left the room. Met tried talking so me and Cristina looked at each other.
"Did you just say something? Did you just speak?" Cristina asked her again, we moved to be at Mer's side.
"Mer, hon, we don't understand you. Can you please try again for us?" I asked her, I then looked at Cristina.
"What...I...I can't? Please, please don't be. Your brain works, ok? So all you need to do is form a word, please." Cristina said to her.
"Ouch." Was the word Mer chose, we both sighed in relief.
"Oh, god. Oh, hi! I'm getting married to Burke! Not that, that should be anywhere on your list of thought right now. But just in case you slip on the hall later or...You are the two people I wanted to tell. Thank you for not dying." Cristina said I smiled at her.
"Oh, my god congratulations. I hope he makes you very happy. And Mer, I can't thank you enough for not dying. Without you who am I supposed to talk about the struggles we both had growing up in a hospital." I said with a smile, I saw Derek coming. "Cristina we should probably go and give her and Derek some space." I said while looking at Cristina. Cristina agreed and we walked out the room. I saw Mark and I ran over and instantly hugged him.
"How is she?" He asked me once I pulled out of the hug.
"She's going to be okay, she's awake and talking so that's a good thing." I said with a smile.
"I knew she would pull through." Mark told me with a smile. I stayed and talked with him for a while before heading home. I couldn't believe how tough and how hard today was. Imagine if I lost one of my best friends, I would never be able to fully recover. Let's just hope that I never have to go through that. On my wait out I saw Webber sitting with Ellis, it had them dawned on me that she'd departed us, which would be hard for Mer. I couldn't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
