0003. | NADIA GETS HER
MAGIC TRICKS OUT

Nadia was a big fan of thunder. When the sound scared others, it soothed her. But not then. Not when her instincts were going crazy and her head felt like it was exploding. Usually, she could handle herself in large groups when her mind wasn't too chaotic, but right then, she felt like she couldn't breathe.

Jason and Leo were still by her but they weren't paying attention to her which was weird considering Leo never let his gaze wander too far from her but at that moment, he was eyeing the gold coin Jason was fiddling with like he was nervous. Nadia didn't know why he was nervous, it wasn't like someone had just read his mind and spoke to him telepathically to keep it a secret so their other friends wouldn't think they were insane... oh, wait.

She needed to get away from the boys, away from everyone, just for a second so she could calm her mind and stop herself from getting mixed up in other people's heads. That never ended well. When Nadia was a baby and would cry, she nearly gave her father an aneurysm on his way to calm her down. From the beginning he knew she'd be trouble. But a trouble worth while.

Leo caught her eye suddenly when he saw her blinking heavily and breathing fast. His usually cheery face faltered for a moment as he nodded his head at her, asking if she was okay with his eyes. It took her a second to answer. She always liked Leo's eyes. They were so pretty, like honey. "I think I need some air?" She excused herself, walking quickly to the railing of the skywalk so no one could stop her.

Leo's gaze followed her despite his feet never moving. "We're already outside..." he mumbled.

Nadia clamped her hands down on the railing, stilling them so the metal of her many assorted rings wouldn't scrape against it and distract her further. She had to focus. Breathe in, and out. In, and out. Easy peasy. She wasn't going to give the entire Wilderness School an aneurysm, she was going to stay calm and collected.

The rapid winds soared through her hair, ruffling the curls enough to cool her down and relax her aura. (Sometimes the red sparks would spit about when she was annoyed). She sighed, in her efforts to calm down, picturing a certain boy with a crooked smile that nipped his tongue between his teeth when he really wholeheartedly laughed. Leo. She smiled to herself.

Nadia hadn't realised how fast the winds had got until she opened her eyes again and saw long winding tendrils of hurricanes that were headed straight to the skywalk. Oh dear.

"Nadia!" She turned her head, still holding onto the railing. It was Leo.

"Get away from the edge!" Jason shouted, running over to her, grabbing Leo along the way but only to stop the boy from falling over the edge. Their main concern wasn't if Nadia would fall over the edge, but rather, if she would be swept up and blown away. Jason reached her first, grabbing her hand from the railing and pulling her with him back to the doors where Dylan and Piper were struggling to hold open the doors for other students.
