0002. | WORDS OF WISDOM:
FOLLOW THE STALLION

Nadia had never really studied her own aura before. She could tell anyone else's off by heart; Leo's was red, like fire beating in a smoking cloud; Piper's was green like the ocean, calm but dangerous; Jason's was like a sky filled with lightning (but Nadia had always found thunder comforting); her father's was golden, like honey. But her own?

The closest she had ever come to examining it was when she saw how her own melded with Leo's. She remembered being entranced by how vivid the colour of red became when they were near one another, how the fire of Leo softened the fierceness of her lightning. She could recall how Leo had the ability to make her feel so much more gentle, so much softer than she had expected her aura to be. Now, looking in the mirror, she didn't see the same glory of red she had once seen with Leo.

There was something entirely different about her reflection, and she knew it wasn't a good different. Even her eyes betrayed it. It wasn't just her aura that was darkened, brewing like a tempest with black, sinister clouds dancing around her fingertips like her magic, but her eyes too.

It wasn't always, but sometimes she could see a redness in them, a cruel redness like the sky from her horrible dream that had shown her dead mother. It scared her. Her reflection scared her and it had done ever since she looked into the pit of Chaos that Annabeth and Percy had fallen into.

          "What-cha doin', preciosa?"

Leo appeared suddenly, standing behind her in the mirror, snapping her from her thoughts. She could see his face over her shoulder, watching her as she watched herself. He wound his arms around her middle with a comforting squeeze as if he could tell she was unhappy.

"Just thinking." She murmured as Leo rested his chin on her shoulder. He pressed a kiss to her shoulder and she let her hand move to his hair, stroking her fingers through it. He hummed, appreciating the massage on his scalp, fluttering his eyes shut dramatically. Nadia giggled and he smiled proudly at the sound.

"Tell me..." he prompted, his voice sounding lazy and tired as she continued to play with his hair.

She sighed gently, not wanting to arouse suspicion. "I'm worried about Nico, that's all." She lied. "He doesn't seem himself. He's not smiling so much anymore."

Leo laughed. "Nico? Smile?" Nadia rolled her eyes softly at his tease. "Why're you looking at yourself if you're worrying about Nico, hmm? A little narcissistic if you ask me, Di. Trust me, I'd know, I've met the guy." He joked.

Nadia laughed, remembering the incident. "Oh, I believe you." She retorted. Leo smiled, but not wholeheartedly. She watched his reflection carefully, still playing with his hair.
