0005. | IS SHE A GOOD WITCH,
OR A BAD WITCH?

Nadia was probably the nicest person Jason had ever met. He didn't know what it was, but there was something enticingly nice about her. Like she could tell any story and it could never be anything less than completely spectacular. And her smile, it was contagious. Jason thought she was like a cute little fairy he would keep in his pocket.

Though, after her little showdown at the Canyon, Jason wasn't sure if Nadia would be the gentle fairy type. She was a badass, no question, and Jason was sure Leo loved that. His obsession with the girl was painfully obvious but as Leo's best friend, Jason was the designated wing man, so he could only encourage Leo's pursuit of her.

Jason sat, listening to Rachel telling the other demigods about what happened to Piper and her passing out in Hera's cabin, and Jason's great vision from Juno. But through the whole speech, Jason was watching Leo watching Nadia watching Rachel. Nadia was animatedly watching Rachel talking, occasionally throwing a concerned looked at Piper but other than that, completely invested in the story she missed out on while unconscious. But what Jason found funny was how Leo was staring at her like she was the person who put the sun in the sky.

"Jason," Rachel asked, pulling him from his stare. "Do you remember your last name?" Jason knew his face was embarrassed as he shook his head no, but it didn't seem so bad when he saw Nadia's soft smile at him and her voice in his head that he was still getting used to. It's gonna be okay. He smiled back at her. "We'll just call you Jason then," Rachel continued, unaware of his secret conversation with Nadia. "It's clear Hera herself has issued you a quest."

Rachel paused for a moment like she was stopping herself in case he wanted to deny the proposal. All eyes were on him. He needed to decide. He glanced at Piper and she nodded at him. Jason composed his face into a confident expression. "I agree." He said.

Rachel nodded. "You must save Hera to prevent a great evil." She announced. "Some sort of king from rising. For reasons we don't yet understand, it must happen by the Winter Solstice, only four days from now."

"That's the council day of the gods." Annabeth added. "If the gods don't already know she's gone, they will definitely notice her absence by then. They'll probably break out fighting, accusing each other of taking her. That's what they usually do."

Chiron continued. "The Winter Solstice is also the time of greatest darkness. The gods gather that day, as mortals always have, because there is strength in numbers. The Solstice is a day when evil magic is strong. Ancient magic, older than the gods. It is a day when things... stir." Jason saw Nadia's siblings all look at her like they knew something that made Nadia fidget.

"Okay," Annabeth sent a look at Chiron. "Thank you, Captain Sunshine. Whatever's going on, I agree with Rachel. Jason has been chosen to lead this quest, so-,"
