0023. | LEO GETS A LITTLE
HEATED (ACCIDENTALLY)Coach Hedge made quick work of getting Nadia and Piper up the bridge. Piper would've slipped off four times if it wasn't for Nadia pulling her back on so they could keep up with the satyr.
They finally got to the top and had turned to encourage the others to hurry when Nadia saw Leo stop suddenly. He was looking around at the bridge. "Why do they have a bridge?" He asked, still standing still.
Thalia clearly was having the same train of thought as Nadia. "Leo, this isn't a good place to stop. What do you mean?" She was stuck behind him, she couldn't move forward if Leo didn't continue after Jason.
"They're wind spirits." He carried on with his thought. "Can't they fly?"
"Yes, but sometimes they need a way to connect to the world below." Thalia said frustratedly.
So the bridge isn't always here?" Gods, why did he always have to be so sure of everything?
"Leo!" Nadia yelled down to them. "Keep moving!" He nodded, taking a step before stopping again.
Thalia rolled her eyes at him, shaking her head. "No, the wind spirits don't like being anchored to the earth, but sometimes it's necessary. Like now. They know we're coming - so would you please listen to Nadia!" She groaned but Leo was still thinking. It was like watching gears turning in his mind and Nadia could understand how he was a son of Hephaestus when he acted like that.
Nadia saw a glint of something by Leo's feet. She focussed her eyes, trying to see the cause of it but couldn't see anything other than a slight sheen from the moonlight. Sometimes she really hated her bad eyesight.
"Leo, what are you thinking?" Jason prompted him.
"Oh gods, keep moving!" Thalia glared at the cause of the glint by Leo's feet. "Look at your feet!" The glint of the moonlight had been the sheen of a puddle. Leo was melting the ice.
"Leo, stop it. You're going to melt it!" Jason warned him but Leo was too freaked out, trying to hang onto his idea.
"Leo, baby, please keep moving!" Nadia shouted from the top of the bridge but that only seemed to make it worse. Leo looked to be heating up faster at her words and she saw the tip of one of his curls light up like it had when she told him he'd never read his mind.
"Nadia, shush! You're not helping!" Jason called back to her but she knew from his tone that he wasn't blaming her for whatever had excited Leo.
"Listen, Jason," Leo caught his attention again. "what did Hera call you in that dream? She called you a bridge."
"Leo, seriously, cool down." Thalia was panicking. "I don't know what you're talking about but the bridge-!"
