0032. | LEO GETS A
LITTLE DISTRACTED

When Leo opened his eyes, his first instinct was to find Nadia. He slipped over in his hurry but he got to her quick enough. She was hunched over, her hands covered in dirt from the ground and her face scrunched up keeping her eyes shut.

"Di," he shook her. "Di, open your eyes, come on, tell me you're okay," he tried hard to wipe away his tears so she wouldn't see them. Her eyes winced open and he couldn't control the sigh of relief when all the gold and green had been extinguished from her irises and her beautiful brown and blue heterochromia had returned.

She gazed up at him and Leo could feel his heart hammering in his chest. Just one flutter of her lashes was enough to give him a stroke.

"Come on, Di," he repeated, steadying her wavering body in his arms. "please tell me you're okay..." she was silent, looking down at the ground in a way that made Leo want to gather her into his arms and never let go so she was always protected. It hurt to see her tear stained cheeks dried with the echoes of her agony - it hurt more than he could admit. Because Leo found it so hard to admit that the girl who he lo-liked (godsdammit, he kept messing that up) was in pain.

"Jason?" Her voice sounded sad but Leo was ecstatic to hear something else from her lips rather than that awful croaky voice of Gaea. Even if it was another guy's name.

"No, I'm Leo..." he corrected and she pulled herself away from him. Leo tried not to let his feelings get hurt but he couldn't help it. He didn't think he could ever get used to her rejecting him, no matter how hard he tried to remember that she would never feel the same way.

That same feeling he felt when he saw Achilles flooded through him. The way that even when he knelt before her, Achilles was still nearly the size of her. The guy was massive and ripped, and it didn't matter that he was dead because he certainly didn't look it or act it. He sliced up every monster on the battlefield just to protect Nadia when all Leo could do was take on Khione. And when he kissed her hand - gods, Leo had never wanted to set someone on fire more.

"No - Jason," she stressed, snapping him from his jealousy. "I hurt him."

Leo hated how her voice sounded. He hated the guilt in her voice that Gaea had put there. He looked around the courtyard, trying to find Jason for her when he realised why it was so easy to track him. Piper was hanging above him and shaking his limp body. "Oh, no." He muttered, grabbing Nadia's arm and hauling her after him to the blond boy.

Leo's breath caught in his throat. Jason's eyes were rolled into the back of his head and his whole body was smoking. His tanned skin was pale and he looked dead. Not even his chest moved with breaths. "Jason!" Piper kept shaking him but it didn't seem to be doing much. He only shifted with each shake, no sign of movement other than the continued blistering of a wound on his shoulder that Nadia-Gaea had inflicted.
