0012. | LEO AND THE
MECHANICS SAVE THE DAY

Nadia felt very awkward now that Leo was gone. She felt like a proper third wheel when left alone with Jason and Piper who were looking at each other with lovey-dovey eyes.

They were having an intense moment of prolonged eye contact filled with hidden smiles and shy gazes that Nadia watched between like a tennis match. Jason opened his mouth to speak when Nadia interrupted. "I'm gonna check this place out." She said quickly. She didn't want to be around when conversations got cosy with those two. It wasn't that she didn't care for them both (she did! So much) but this was their time to have a moment so she decided to give them their space. "See if I can find more snow."

"Oh, okay." Piper nodded, sending her a hidden look like thank you! Jason did the same but neither of them noticed each other's looks. "Be safe." Nadia nodded, waving at them both before pulling herself to her feet.

Gods, how could two people be so oblivious that they were meant to be together? Nadia felt like she wanted to lock them in a room until they admitted that they were meant to be together.

Nadia found a stairwell and sat on a step with her head in her hand and her elbow on her knee that wasn't cradled by a sling. She wasn't sure how long she would have to stay in the stairwell for but she figured Jason would call her back if anything happened.

She decided to search through her bag to waste time. She wiggled her healthy arm in the bag, digging around to find something interesting when she noticed that she was up to her armpit in the bag. She frowned, pulling her arm out. She tried it again, and again her arm went straight down to her armpit, ready to go further when she pulled it out again. The bag really should only have gone up to her elbow.

She grabbed a flashlight from the top of the bag to shine down into it. The inside had black lining which made it kind of difficult to see, but as far as Nadia could see, the bag was bottomless. She figured that was why there was a makeshift tent in there, and a crystal ball, and a video camera. "Awesome!" She whispered to herself, having another trifle around the bag when she was interrupted.

"Nadia? Is that you?" It was Leo's voice from the top of the stairwell.

"Yeah, it's me!" She called back, ignoring that her full name was used which Leo rarely ever did.

She heard footsteps thudding down the steps and she froze. They weren't Leo's footsteps, they were too heavy and stomping. She had to think quickly so she did something she knew only Leo would notice. She took off her bird necklace, dropping it on top of her bag that she quickly pushed under the stairwell so it was hidden from view at the top of the stairs. She stood from her step.

A tall, wide, looming shadow showed on the stairs and her heart rattled. That definitely wasn't her Leo - so why did they have the same voice? Nadia concentrated hard in that split second to penetrate the shielded mind of the shadow. Mmm, tasty half-blood. She gasped, stumbling back into the door to the stairwell. This must've been one of those monsters Lou Ellen had warned her about.
