0011. | THE MUCH NEEDED OLIVE BRANCH
Leo had the best night sleep of his entire life since his mom died. He used to fall asleep every night in the bedroom next to his mom's, tapping I love you against the wall and hearing it back before he could sleep. Now, he fell asleep with the girl he loved in his arms, listening to her breathing like it was a life line.
Nadia's head was laid against his chest and her curls tickled his chin but he didn't have the heart to move them. Instead, he held her closer and listened to the sound of the engine that thrummed through the ship. That was, until he heard the banging on his door. He winced, shifting Nadia off of him and got to the door.
"What?" He whispered, trying not to wake his girlfriend and peeking his head from the door. Jason and Coach Hedge were hanging out in the hallway.
"What you got in there, cupcake?" Coach Hedge tried to peer past Leo but he kept the door tight to him so Coach couldn't see Nadia asleep in his bed.
"Nothing." He said a little too quickly.
Jason frowned suspiciously but he didn't push it. "We can't find Percy, Annabeth, or Nadia." He told him. "They're not in their cabins."
Percy and Annabeth surprised him, but Leo tried to pretend shock at a missing Nadia rather than knowing she was five feet away in his bed. "Huh, that's crazy." He murmured. "Give me a minute, I'll come look."
They nodded and let Leo shut his door again. Nadia grumbled in her sleep and scrunched her nose from beneath the bedsheets. Leo's heart soared at the sight. He wanted to wake up to this every morning.
He knelt by the side of the bed and poked her nose. It scrunched up adorably and he did it again just to see her do it once more. "Leo..." she mumbled and he grinned. He could never get over how she said his name.
"Hey, preciosa." He whispered. "Time to wake up." She grumbled. "Come on! Everyone's looking for you."
"Just tell them we slept together..." she hid back under the covers and Leo blushed bright red at the suggestion.
"I would, Di," he said. "but I'm pretty sure Jason would punch me." He joked but she didn't seem to understand the double meaning of them sleeping together. "Come on." He stripped the blankets off of her and pulled her from the bed.
"No!" She whined.
It took a lot of back and forth, and sneaking past Piper and Coach Hedge, but Leo got Nadia back to her cabin without being caught. He got dressed and met everyone in the Mess Hall for a war council. Leo sat next her at the table as always, holding her hand under the table. He didn't like to hold her hand over the table, he didn't need everyone to see they were together, he just needed her to know.
