0003. | NADIA AND JASON
HAVE A CUT IN COMMON

Nadia wasn't doing too well with making friends. Sure, Percy seemed to like her enough, or maybe he was just polite, and Frank seemed to maybe want to be her friend but Hazel was still staring at her with a composed teary expression like she would rather be anywhere than near her.

But Nadia tried not to take it personally. In Nadia's world of magic and sorcery she was well versed with weird ideas like doppelgängers or almost-doppelgängers so she decided to give Hazel some space.

"So you're basically Hermione Granger on steroids?" Percy came to his conclusion after Nadia explained to him her powers. He knew about her siblings' control of the Mist, but he seemed to be really interested in Nadia's Red Girl magic. "Dope."

Frank marvelled at her. "I've never met a child of Trivia." Hazel seemed a bit miffed by Frank's interest but Nadia was only trying to make friends. "Are you really a Princess of Ghosts?"

Nadia nodded. "I think so," she said, glancing to Hazel. "But not as good as Nico. I've studied Necromancy with my uncle but Achilles is my favourite ghost." She said and Percy made a face of recognition.

"I remember him," he said. "Very serious dude."

Nadia nodded in memory of how Achilles had proposed his servitude to her. He was all so very serious and was more than prepared to teach Nadia how to fight with her dagger when she asked him to. Achilles had said that a dagger was the weapon of a smart fighter which didn't sound too accurate for the type of person Nadia was but she learned to fight with it anyway, as well as her whip. Only now, she was without both her weapons. Her whip was in snake form, playing in her cabin on the Argo, whilst her dagger was gods know where. Nico had taken it to get it reforged with Stygian Iron but she hadn't seen him since for him to give it back to her.

Percy continued leading the four of them down the paths of New Rome. Nadia had already said hi to the elephant, Hannibal, but it didn't really like her that much so her companions had chosen to take her on a tour of New Rome. So far, it was fascinating but Nadia far preferred Camp Half-Blood.

Nadia could feel Hazel watching her so she smiled at the girl and Hazel smiled back which Nadia appreciated. Back home in New Orleans, when Nadia smiled at girls, they usually glared back but she didn't know why. At least Hazel wasn't like that.

Frank was pointing out landmarks when Nadia saw something on his arm. A similar looking burned scar like Jason's but without so many strikes for years of service. Frank saw Nadia looking at it. "They're individual brands for each god." He explained and Nadia nodded. Jason had told her a bit about his - an Eagle for Jupiter, like the feather in Piper's hair.
