0004. | LEO FALLS HOPELESSLY
IN LIKE WITH NADIA

The nectar Frank given Nadia had worked a little, but she was still forced to lean on Leo for support, which wasn't a problem at all. Leo wanted any excuse to be near her right then, even if it was only because she couldn't stand on her own. Everyone else on the ship was mad at him, and for good reason, but that didn't mean it didn't make Leo feel absolutely awful. At least when he was near Nadia, she cheered him up.

When they got to Festus, Leo let out a relieved sigh. The dragon head had been shielded from the catapult attacks and appeared to be unharmed. Once they got close enough, Festus whirred his head around in a 180 degree spin to look at them. Frank yelped in shock making Nadia jump too. "It's alive!" Frank cried.

Leo wanted to laugh but he didn't. "Yeah." He said. "Frank, this is Festus. He used to be a full bronze dragon, but we had an accident." Nadia stroked Festus's snout and he nuzzled into her touch. Leo smiled at the two. Festus had always loved Nadia - almost as much as Leo did.

"You have a lot of accidents." Frank noted and Leo bowed his head.

"Well," he tried not to snap. "Some of us can't turn into dragons, so we have to build our own."

Nadia pointed a finger at Frank like she was drunk. "You're a very pretty dragon." She said. "I like dragons."

Frank blushed shyly like he wasn't used to compliments like that and Leo clenched his jaw. "Anyway." Leo said. "I revived him as a figurehead. He's kind of the ship's main interface now. How are things looking Festus?"

Festus snorted some smoke and covered Nadia's hand in soot but she didn't mind. It was one of the things Leo liked about her. There was nothing hotter than a girl who didn't mind getting her hands dirty and Nadia was always more than ready to give him a hand in Bunker 9.

Leo listened to Festus creak and whir with his gears and he nodded understandingly. Where Nadia could speak fluent English, French, Greek, Latin, and Xhosa, Leo could speak fluent creak and squeak. "Ugh," he listened closely. "Could be worse, but the hull is compromised in several places."

"Sorry." Nadia mumbled but Leo didn't blame her. When she was redirecting the explosions, she had accidentally let one hit the ship when she got hit in the head by a rock. He couldn't (and would never) blame her for that.

"It wasn't your fault." He promised softly making Frank look at him curiously. It was probably the first time he had heard Leo talk that wasn't teary or angry. "But the port aerial oars have to be fixed before we can go full speed again. We'll need some repair materials: Celestial Bronze, tar, lime-,"
