In a way we were all shocked when we saw Vocal Adrenaline stood on our stage in our auditorium because we hadn't been expecting them to just turn up and perform a song to scare us, but we weren't surprised that Jesse had jumped back to the opposing side. He claimed it was because we hadn't been very welcoming to him, but we all knew it was part of his master plan to crush Rachel's heart right before our big competition.
Annoyingly, it had worked because we had all been taken by surprise by the visit and now, we were all worried that we were going to lose because they had been amazing with barely any rehearsal time. They had their star back, just as they had planned and now, we were in trouble for Regionals.
"It's a Carmel High tradition, they psych out the competition a few weeks before the big show. They call it a funkification." Artie explained as we all walked together back to the choir room. "Meaning, they show us what they've got and we spiral into a deep black funk."
"We used to do the same thing to other football teams. Try and get inside their head before a big game, pull little pranks to intimidate them." Finn tried to liken it to football, kind of his way of understanding things happening.
Puck rolled his eyes. "The difference was our football team sucked. Those guys are golden."
"Come on, keep your heads-up guys." Kurt said positively as he turned into the choir room. "It's going to take more than that to get us into a funk-"
He stopped talking and stopped walking as we all took in what had been done whilst we were in the auditorium. Not only had they invaded our space by performing in our auditorium but they had invaded our choir room and hung toilet paper everywhere. It just made us even more depressed that they had managed to pull this over us, when we had been so confident to win beforehand.
"I feel so violated, it's like someone broke into our home." Tina sighed as I helped her put a roll of toilet paper into the nearest bin.
"Look, it was just a lame prank and the fact that they're trying to get to us means maybe we got them spooked." Dad said, trying to make us feel better but it wasn't really working.
"They aren't afraid of anything, that number they did was fantastic. How did they even get in though?"
Coach Sylvester pushed open the doors and led a group of students with measuring tapes in behind her. "I gave them all keys, helped them with a soundcheck on the weekend. Let's punch out this wall, that'll open up the space."
"Sue, what are you doing?"
She allowed the students that she had brought in to start measuring things, and write down ideas on their clipboards as she held up her own trophy which she was hoping to use as an idea for her new trophy room which was the choir room.
"I'm redecorating, I have Nationals this weekend and I need a place to store my comedically large first place trophy."
"Get out of my room." Dad said angrily, he wasn't happy about her being in there and measuring things as if she knew we'd lose at Regionals.
