"It was written for Diana Ross."
"No Mercedes, you are wrong, okay?" Rachel argued back. "The Bodyguard was originally written for Barba Streisand."
The first ten minutes of Glee rehearsal without my Dad turning up was just all of us listening to Mercedes and Rachel arguing about The Bodyguard, which was not the most interesting debate for us to watch. I secretly hoped that Rachel was right because I've had an underlying problem with Mercedes ever since the girls told me that she was spending a lot of time with my boyfriend.
Dad entered the room, shutting down my hopes straight away. "Actually, Rachel, it was supposed to be Diana Ross and Steve McQueen back in the 70's."
"Thank you, Mr Schue."
"I've been doing some research to prepare for this week's lesson." He revealed as he wrote down a very famous name on the board, making everyone a little more excited for the week ahead.
"It's about time we did a Whitney tribute!"
Sam made a face at the idea. "Are we sure that's appropriate?"
"You did not just say that."
"I just mean, didn't Whitney kind of have a lot of problems?" He tried explaining but no one was happy with his questioning for this weeks' lesson.
Mercedes death glared him, which made me angry that she was looking at him like that when he only asked a question. "She had a hard life, Sam, and?"
"Look, this week isn't about passing judgement on Whitney. It's about celebrating her legacy, honouring her memory and her accomplishments."
"Which I will happily list!" Kurt clapped his hands in excitement.
"But I also want you guys to use her songs to get underneath your own feelings. To express and explore what's really going on with you."
Santana scowled at my Dad. "I don't get it Mr Schue, what's really going on with us?"
"Well for most of you, these next few weeks will be your last at McKinley. Lots of changes coming up, lots of saying goodbye. To your friends, to your significant others, to the last four years of your life."
That made everyone think about what was happening because my Dad was right, this year was coming to an end and it would bring along with it a lot of changes. The Seniors were moving on and after summer, they wouldn't be in the corridors, or in Cheerio's practise or in the choir room. They were going to leave and that was going to make a huge difference to everyone left in the Glee Club.
I grabbed my bag and tried to leave before anyone stopped me but I wasn't quick enough because Sam called me, making me stop and turn to face him. He looked hesitant which made me hesitant about talking to him, I had been avoiding him for a reason.
"Can I talk to you about something?"
I nodded; a little bit worried that he was going to tell me what I was hoping not to hear. He was going to tell me that he had cheated on me with Mercedes and I wasn't ready to hear that. I didn't want to know that the girls were right, I didn't want any of this to happen. I wanted us to be okay and not have this kind of drama when we'd only been together for three weeks.
