"New Directions, guys!"

My Dad was late for the Glee Club rehearsal and in his absence, we decided to have some fun without him. The instruments that the band used were just sitting there, begging to be played, so that's what we did. I couldn't hear a lot as Ryder tried to teach Tina how to play the drums and Unique was pressing different keys on the key board.

Sam sat behind me, trying to teach me how to play guitar as I held the instrument, he moved my fingers. He was trying to make it sound like a song but I didn't play any instruments for a reason, because I wasn't very good at it. So, I just tried to stop myself from laughing at the facial expressions that Jake was making, in response to the awful chords that I was trying to strum on the guitar.

We were so focused on playing the instruments and messing around that we hadn't really questioned where my Dad was, or even if we were supposed to be doing anything. We didn't hear Blaine straight away when he ran into the room but he kept shouting and eventually we all stopped what we were doing, to listen to whatever he was going to say. I guessed that it would be boring and would make me regret stopping my chord strumming; because even though I wasn't very good, it was more fun than hearing Blaine moan about our upcoming Nationals competition.

"Hey, I just ran into Mr Schue and he's going to be stuck in his classroom for the rest of the afternoon because of some school board inspection thing, but he still wanted us to meet so we can start working on ideas for Nationals."

"Beyoncé!" Unique yelled which caused the room to burst into argument about what ideas we all had.

Some people wanted to change the style of music that we usually performed, Marley obviously wanted us to perform one of her original songs again, which would have been fine but most of them were about her eating disorder or her fat Mom. I was shouting at Jake, who wanted to have a complete dance solo which was ridiculous and Sam was backing me up as we wanted to stick to what got us here in the first place.

"Wait! This is anarchy, we can't all just shout at the same time." Blaine stamped his foot, making us all stop shouting. "That's better. I have some ideas already. I'm thinking that the music needs to be really simple, so we can really highlight our voices. No guitars or nothing electronic. We go with a simple piano arrangement, which I could play."

"I'm assuming you're singing lead?" Kitty asked, as we all hummed in agreement.

"Well, I am a Senior and this is my last go at it."

I raised my hand. "Sam, Tina, Artie and me are all Seniors too. Do we all get a solo?"

Blaine frowned at me before crossing his arms. "We need to win this."

"Are you implying that if we had solos then we wouldn't win?" I asked, which made everyone gasp at how rude Blaine was being right now.

"It feels like North Korea up in here." Tina argued and we all agreed that this didn't feel like a fair discussion, it felt like Blaine was trying to take charge of something that he had no power over.
