Nationals was fast approaching and none of us really knew if we were ready or not. This year had been a tough one for the Glee Club, after being disqualified at Sectionals, we didn't even know if we'd have another competition this season. The Seniors believed that we had lost our chance to prove ourselves champions, but then a miracle happened and the Warblers were found to be cheating. Which meant that we were brought back, we won Regionals which just cemented that we were supposed to compete, we were good enough to go to Nationals.

And then the worst thing happened, we suffered a major loss which removed our focus, understandably from something as mundane as a show choir competition to something much more important, the loss of a friend. Now that we were slowly healing, it was time to focus on more mundane things again and it was time to prepare for Nationals. Dad had some ideas for a setlist but hadn't revealed them yet, but we still needed to decide who would be the starring members of our Glee Club because we couldn't all have solos.

"Okay guys, it's coming down to the wire. We have a very important decision to make-"

"Yes, my wig is either going to be Anne Wintour chic or Pam Grier fabulousness." Unique interrupted, informing us about an issue that none of us were really that bothered about. "I'm not ready to make the decision."

"Okay." Dad frowned, before getting back to what this rehearsal was all about. "So, we have two solos at Nationals and since Blaine was voted the new-Rachel, obviously he gets one. But who is going to step up and take centre stage?"

Tina raised her hand before Dad had finished asking the question. "I'd like to nominate myself."

"Shocker." Artie mumbled but we had all heard him.

The two had fallen out this week when Principal Sylvester told them that they were tied for Valedictorian but only one of them could receive the title. She had pitted them against each other for that spot and now they were fighting about everything else as well, which wasn't good for any of us because out of the entire Glee Club; these were the worst pair when it came to fighting. Neither of them ever backed down and they could hold grudges for life, maybe that's why they didn't work out as a couple.

"And you think you're going to carry us to victory?"

"Actually, Mr Schue, I think I'd like to compete with Tina for that second spot."

"Well, I think we should ae a sing-off, right here, right now. A little help guys?"

My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)
Performed by Tina, Artie & New Directions

The song came abruptly to an end when Tina pushed Artie over and he fell out of his wheelchair. She probably didn't mean to do it as hard as she had, but now the damage was done. We all gasped and tried to help but I realised that Artie was going to be embarrassed so I kept everyone away from him as Sam helped him off the floor. Kitty moved the chair back upright so that it would be easier for him to get in as Tina just watched anxiously.
