Summer had been completely different to last year. One of the major things was that my Mom moved to Miami and I spent some time with her, so that my Dad could get used to living with Emma, who had now officially moved in with us after they got back together. Another major thing was I had a boyfriend and we spent the entire summer together. He even came with me to Miami so that he could meet my Mom.
I hadn't really talked to Quinn, since we hadn't been very close since she had her baby; so, I spent the summer becoming closer to Rachel, who wasn't as bad as everyone thought and Santana, who was opening up to me more now that we had a better connection. Mike and Tina went to Asian Camp again so none of us heard from them and Brittany went on vacation, at least that's what we hoped because we didn't want her lost in the sewers again.
But once the summer was over and I walked through the main doors of McKinley High School, it felt like nothing had changed. The main problem was that the school still hated us and it didn't help that we had gone to Nationals, just to walk away with a twelfth-place win.
I hadn't seen any of my friends yet, so I went to my locker and tried to get organised for the first day back to school. But things couldn't be normal, especially not on the first day back because as soon as I reached my locker there was a camera pushed in my face.
I rolled my eyes at Jacob Ben Israel, who was still annoying us even on the first day back after summer vacation. He was still uploading to his Glee blog and for some reason, was still recording his annual check in with the Glee Club; not that we had ever asked him to do this.
"Twitter says you're officially dating Sam Evans, aka Trouty Mouth, aka Hobo McBieber."
I sighed, turning to face him. "I'm not dating Sam, not anymore. Not that it's any of your business, so go and interview someone who actually wants to answer your questions, like Rachel."
Truth was, I was still angry at Sam for what he had done to me but I hadn't told anyone the truth. We had the best summer together, that was the truth, but then he disappeared a week before school started and wouldn't answer my texts or my phone calls. I went to the motel to find that they had moved out and when he did reply to my texts, he told me everything. His Dad had been offered a job out of the state and they moved, he just hadn't told me before because he wasn't good at goodbyes.
Then he promptly broke up with me, also over text. Which just increased my anger towards him even more, but I didn't want to get our friends involved so I didn't tell them the truth. I told them that Sam moved and we couldn't handle the pressures of a long-distance relationship; so, we made the mutual decision to break up.
I tried not to think about him as I made my way to the choir room because I wanted this year to be the best ever. For some of my friends, it was their Senior Year and I didn't want to ruin it with boyfriend issues. So, I decided that this year I would focus on having a good time with my friends and ensuring a win at Nationals for the Glee Club.
