The five sat, peacefully under the large tree in the courtyard, soaking up the summer sun. The next day was the ball, and most of the school was busy organising their attire or helping out with the decorations.
Harry, Ron and hermione scuttled under the arches, deep in conversation- hardly noticing a chirpy Hagrid waving at them. The whispered all the way to the other end of the walkway- clearly submerged in their conversation.
"Those three seem much more weird than normal." Observed Blaise, as he turned the page of his Arithmathy book.
"I would hit you for once again insulting my brother and friends, but I have to agree with you." Said Ginny, who was having her hair braided by Pansy, for the fifth time today.
"What do you think they are discussing?" Asked Theo, as his eyes lingered on the spot on the floor they had been standing on.
"Probably about Voldemort." Ginny said, wincing as Pansy pulled too hard on one of the strands of her hair.
"You should not say his name." She hushed, as she continued to braid her hair.
"Do you think they'll win?" Asked Draco, finally speaking.
"I mean, they are only teenagers-" Blaise began, but was cut off by Ginny.
"Yes." She said, sternly.
"But, what if he wins?" Draco asked, his voice as delicate as tissue.
"He won't. I'd die before that happens." She said, strength coating her words.
"But- what if you don't have to? If someone helped you?" The group didn't know the seriousness and meaningfulness of his words. Draco was trembling in anxiousness- knowing the strength of the dark side.
"No. I'd be happy to die fighting for what I think is right. Why do you ask?" She said, finally catching onto what he was unmeaning-fully hinting.
His insides begged for him to tell her- expose his worst fears to her, what he knew, who he knew. But now was not the time.
"Just a question. Anyway, Pansy said there was something special about your dress. Care to tell?" Draco asked, changing the subject.
"Pans!" Ginny scolded, as she tried to turn round and scowl at her friend, but the right hold Pansy had on her hair wouldn't allow her.
"No- I told Theo in the carriage when we was waiting for you guys. I didn't know he would tell everyone." She defended, glaring at a relaxed Theo.
"Pans- the boy's aren't everyone." He commented, lying back into the grass.
"Anyway. Back to this dress." Blaise said, excitedly.
"Urgh! I don't even know what's so special about the dress. She just gave me a big book and said I was some sort of descendent." She groaned.
"Well let's see the book then!" Blaise cried, excited.
"It's in my room. We can look at it later." Ginny said, impatient as to when Pansy would finish her hair.
"But you're wearing it for the ball?" Asked Draco.
"Well yeah- she shoved us outa the shop before I could actually pic out a dress." She spoke.
"But you picked out that dress... right?"
"Eh..." Ginny began, but Pansy beat her to it.
"The dress picked her! It was insane! One minute she was standing next to me- then she was levitating to the Malkins room. It was so cool- she was glowing and stuff. Then the trunk opened and the dress flew out!" Pansy squealed, accidentally dropping her place in Ginny's hair, making all of her work fall out of the red hair.
