After Ginny sat, she began a conversation between herself, Malfoy, Parkinson and Zambini. Surprisingly they were nice. Obviously, a few rude remarks were made, but Ginny liked the different pace of conversation with the Slytherins.
Two more people moved, but Draco wasn't listening. He was more concerned with his little red. She smiled at something Pansy said. Her straight white teeth gleamed as she laughed.
The rest of the night went by well. Luckily Ginny was put in a room with Pansy and out of all the Slytherins, Pansy was the only girl who liked Ginny.
'She's not sleeping next to me.' Said a girl called Mia, who was in Ginny's potions.
'Me neither.' Her friend, Amy, added.
'Good, because you too snore, and anyway she is sleeping next to me.' Said Pansy, standing up for her new friend. 'Now listen you two, if you as so much as touch her, you will have me, Draco and Blaize to deal with. Got it?' Pansy then crossed her arms and starred at the two. Ginny had never thought Pansy could be this serious, she was scared to.
The girls nodded, immediately, and ran out of the room, scared to be on the receiving end of one of Pansys spells.
If you asked Ginny a few hours ago, she would have never expected a slytherin to have stood up for her, and Pansy never would have guessed she would have helped a griffindor, but today, both girls realised that that ideology would be gone soon.
'Thank you, Pansy.' Ginny said, 'but I can stick up for myself.'
'I know you can, but you shouldn't have to- those two are the most rude and horrid girls in our house, it was about time they were out in their place.' Pansy finished smiling, then climbing into her bed.
Ginny followed, lying into the bunk below Pansys.
'Goodnight.' Ginny said, as she was overtaken in a green dream of her future in Slytherin.
Surprisingly, Ginny slept really well that night; possibly even the best she slept in months. The ivy green douvett was so big it dangled down to the floor both ends of the bed, onto the crisp oak wood floors, that were sqeeky clean. The pillows felt like candyfloss- not once did she have to adjust it- even with her quiditch book, hidden underneath. Towering silver drapes surrounded her bed, like a protective shield, hiding the nasty glares the other girls gave her as she slept, making her feel less stiff and uncomfortable. Ginny never had a civilised conversation with a slytherin- well before todays exception- and she knew that it would have to be a short time before it changes. Malfoy may have been nice to her today, but longterm? No way.
She got out of bed and went to the floor length mirror and started to brush her hair. Her ginger strands were splayed in a scarecrow hairstyle, and Ginny wouldn't want the other Slytherin girls to see her like this.
After brushing her teeth and getting changed, Ginny left the room and headed down to the common room. Pansy wasn't in her bed, so Ginny assumed she would be in there.
As Ginny entered the room, all eyes were on her, each glaring daggers at her. Turning a blind eye she tried to spot her 'friends'.
Draco sat alone on a forest green love seat, next to the window that overlooked the black lake. Ginny heard a giant squid lived down there, but she never believed it. A giant squid in Hogwarts? No way. She thought.
Surprisingly, Pansy and Blaise were no where to be seen, so her only option was Malfoy. As she walked closer to him, she realised he was reading a book. His face was so relaxed as his eyes glided over every word. Ginny never noticed before, but his eyes were really enchanting. Dark green encased the orb, where towards the middle, silver, baby blue crystals seemed to be shining.
Getting lost into their obis, Ginny didn't realise she was staring as Draco looked up to see the Weaslett standing only a metre away from him.
"You know, you could always take a picture, it'll last longer." He said, smiling- not smirking but smiling. This action seemed to warm Ginny as he patted the empty space beside him and put down his book.
"Ha ha ha." Ginny said, unamused as she tried to think of a witty combat. However, Ginny has never been in this situation before, normally it would be the other way round. Deciding to change the subject, her eyes moved to his book, that was resting on his knee.
"What were you reading?" She asked, "I didn't know you could read." She said, playfully.
Laughing, Draco answered. "Surprisingly, I can read red. But you would laugh if I told you the name of my book."
Surprised by his honesty and vulnerability, Ginny smiled, "Don't worry ferret, your secret is safe with me. And red?" Turning to face each other, he spoke.
"Ferret? Seriously? It's been years and you still bring it up, come on red, think outside the box." He said, harmlessly.
"I could say the same thing- red? Original much." Ginny smiled, crossing her legs as she faced him with her whole body.
"Hey, red is a great nickname. Hardly anyone calls you red." He said, also crossing his legs, giving her his full attention, "And it suits you."
Ginny felt a small blush brewing, and tried to hide it by tucking her chin to her chest as she spoke, "Thanks... Okay I'll stop calling you ferret, but what other nickname can I give you?" She wined, composing herself again.
Censing his opening, Draco spoke, "Handsome? Mr Sexy? Love? Honey? Little Red, the list goes on." He winked.
Laughing, she bumped knees with him, and realised he still had t told her about her book. Her slytherin side coming out, her cunning plan brewed in her head.
Leaning forward so she was millimetres away from his ear, she seductively whispered, "How about..." he shivered as her breath licked his ear. She was so close to him, he could smell her sweet honey and lemon natural smell as her hair dangled onto his shoulder and chest. His heart was beating so loud he thought it was about to jump out of his chest.
Before he could react, she had his book in her hands and retreated back to her side of the loveseat and read the title.
"Wow Draco, I never took you as the-" but before she could finish, he had his hand wrapped around her mouth, his body hovered above hers.
"Please Weaslett, for my sake, shut your pie hole." He pleaded, his eyes wide in fear if she revealed the name.
Mellowing down, she dropped the book and nodded. He removed his hand and leaned back.
"Sorry," she whispered, "and don't worry." She smiled, "I read poetry too sometimes."
His body immediately relaxed, if word spread that Draco Malfoy read poetry, he would be the laughing stock of the slytherin house. He felt safer knowing Ginny had his back. No one, but his mother knew he read poetry, he was happy Ginny wouldn't laugh at him.
"Thank you, Ginny." He said, taking the book and sliding it in between his leg and the back of the sofa, hiding it.
"No worries... Draco." Ginny smiled, "but I need to find you a nickname- Draco sounds weird." She laughed.
Little did she know, Draco whispered "for now red... for now."
