"Ginny! You never told me you liked witches. When your sister comes out, you'd expect them to tell you rather than hear it from some low life Slytherins." Ron muttered, engulfing Ginny in a hug.
Feeling awkward, for Ginny definitely didn't like girls, she patted his back and nodded.
"Well, surprise!" She said, feeling out of place.
"We could have had so much more to talk about." Ron smiled, scuffling her hair. "I always knew Malfoy would drive a girl into lesbianism- and all the better it's you." He beamed, proud of his sister.
"Yeah." Ginny said, giving him a wonky smile, as she stepped off the train.
"What?" Cried Blaise, "You were gay and never told me?!"
"Err- I'm sorry." Replied Ginny, realising what she just said.
Looking to Draco, she saw his gob drop open, and mouth 'thank you?' Giving a small crooked smile she turned back to her friends, as Draco shook his head.
"Well, when did you realise?" Pansy questioned, eagerly.
"Err..." began Ginny, realising she should have thought this through. "Err... at the lake party?" She answered, finally.
"Oh which girl?" Asked Theo, as a strong hand slapped his chest.
"Err..." Ginny began, but had no clue how to answer.
"You." Draco answered for her, looking to Pansy.
Widening her eyes, Pansy pointed to herself.
"Me?"
"You?" Repeated Ginny.
"Yes, Pansy." Draco concluded. "When I found out Ginny liked you- my oldest friend- I err..." he began, but couldn't figure out his story.
"You lost it?" Ginny finished, trying to help him out.
"Yeah... I mean I was surprised, but... it hurt? You know? It was like- betrayal." Draco carried on, catching her drift.
"We made up the story because we didn't want to make things awkward. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, and made you hate Draco, when it should have been me." Ginny said, feeling small.
"No. We could never hate you." Pansy smiled. "It's okay. I'd see why you'd like me too." She smirked, giving Ginny a side hug.
"But why did you fight?" Asked Theo.
"Errr- to sell the story." Answered Draco.
"Oh Merlin! I have to tell Seamus!" Exclaimed Blaise, running out of the carriage.
"What? No!" But before Ginny could stop him, he was already gone.
"Don't worry. You can stay here with us." Sighed Draco, collapsing into the seat as he attempted to heal his nose.
"So, kids, how is school?" Asked Molly, as she served the family cups of tea.
"Good thanks, Mrs Weasley. Thank you for letting me stay, again." Smiled Hermione.
"Of course, dear- you know you are welcome any time. And you of course, Harry." She smiled.
"Thanks Mrs Weasley." Harry smiled, "and for getting me here in the first place." He added, looking to the various adults, dotted around the room.
"Of course. We have a wedding to celebrate, anyway." Smiled Arthur, looking to his son and fiancée.
"Yes, and I'll need all of your help, tomorrow to make sure everything is perfect." Molly smiled, though her eyes shon with worry.
"Yes mum." Ginny smiled, holding her mothers hand.
It had been a week since school ended, and Ginny had hardly any time to owl Draco or the rest of her friends. Being Fleur's bridesmaid, meant that Ginny had to help Fleur- a lot. Her and Mrs Weasley slaved behind the oven, whipping up batches of cakes, pastries, all kinds of dishes for the wedding. The fridge got so full, Mrs Weasley has to charm it so it could appear larger on the inside, providing more space for the foods.
Ginny wondered if her parents would ever do this for when she and Draco got married. Well, if. She thought. No one could understand Ginny like he did- make her feel as safe as he did. She couldn't believe he was all alone in that mansion, full of merciless death-eaters and worse.
From listening to Ron and Hermione, Ginny began to believe this would be the last time everything was normal-ish. Catching conversations from the order, it was clear a battle was brewing, and was about to overflow.
Ginny found herself holding her biscuit, mid dunk for minutes, and by the time she pulled it out, half the food was gone.
"Ha. Well done Gin." Laughed Fred, waving his perfectly round biscuit in Ginny's face.
"Sod off." She grunted, nibbling on the remaining sweet treat.
Draco lay awake in bed, his thumbs twiddling each other- an anxious habit he picked up from Ginny. Voldemort was roaming his house, along with the slimy snake that followed him like a shadow.
Last night they all went out to intercept Harry when he was moved- including Voldemort himself. However, they came back empty handed. Only killing one of the order, but losing five of their own. How could they not understand they will never win? He thought to himself.
Then he remembered the vanishing cabinet he installed in the room of requirements. A heavy ball hit his stomach like a bullet. He would be the reason everyone would die. He would be the reason Hogwarts would fall. He would be the reason Dumbledore would die. He would be the reason for everyone's suffering.
"Oh no... what have I gotten myself into?" He whispered, dropping his head in his hands.
A small knock from the door, caused his head to snap up.
Walking to it, he pressed his ear to the door, trying to figure out who it was."Draco, it's me." The hushed whisper of his mother spoke.
Sighing a desperate breath of relief, he opened his door, as his mother slipped in, closing it behind her.
"Are you alright?" She asked, quickly and worriedly, looking him over.
"Yes mother, I'm fine." Draco smiled.
"If you can't do this, it's okay- just say the word and I'll get you out of here." She said, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
"No mother. I need to stay. When I go back to school, and after I do as he say- it will be chaos. They'll need me." He said, as Mrs Malfoy's eyes bulged out of her face in horror.
"You're still with her aren't you?" She asked in horror. "You and the Weasley girl- Draco do you know how much danger you put yourselves in?" She questioned, mortified.
"No, no, no, mother. Listen, I have everything under control. Please don't stop me from seeing her. Once the war is over and we are all safe, I am going to marry her. She is the only comfort I have and I need you to be on my side." He whispered, desperately.
"You- you're saying... Draco- he could kill you if he found out." She stated, petrified.
"He won't find out." Draco reassured her. "Just trust me." He pleaded.
"Draco- her brothers wedding is tomorrow." She stated.
"Yes I know- wait, how do you know?" He asked.
"Because that's when he plans to attack."
