As everyone settled in the great hall, Dumbledoor prepared what he was going to say. He knew most of the children would hate it, but it was the only way to make peace amongst the houses. Slytherin and Griffindor to be precise.
Once gaining everyone's attention, he spoke:
'Good afternoon, students. It has come to my attention that our school houses are very separate and different. Though it groups friendship groups, we forget that rivalry consumes all your heads.'
Many students nodded at this, 'so that is why I am selecting one student from each house to join another opposing house.'
There were groans and gasps from each table. Ginny knew something would happen, but not this.
'Quiet please!' Demanded the headmaster, 'Hopefully, this will prevent anymore disagreements between houses,' He looked between Ginny and Draco, 'so the first student will be from slytherin and will be going into Ravenclaw.' Many groans came from the ravenclaw and slytherin table as Dumbledoor looked at his paper, 'Mr Goyle?'
Goyle was one of Malfoys old friends. He was definitely not the brightest wizard of his age, but he was always there for Draco. Though they hadn't talked in a long time Draco still felt sad to see his friend stand up from his seat, about ten down from himself, and walk up to the front.
Once Goyle reached the front Dumbledoor handed him a scroll with a blue ribbon. Once the shocked boy held the scroll, his green robes turned blue.
'Thank you Goyle, and good luck in your new house!' Exclaimed Dumbledoor. Ginny was sure he was expecting an applause but only about ten people clapped.
'The next student will be from Griffindoor and shall be moved to slytherin.' The entire Griffindor table fell silent. Everyone knew that Griffindor and Slytherin were enemies and would be until the day they died. Dumbledoor must be out of his mind to think this would work. 'Ginevera Weasley?'
The entire hall fell silent, the only sound you could hear was Ginnys pounding heart and Malfoys sharp intake of breath.
The entire school couldn't believe it. Everyone knew Ginny hated slytherin with a passion, she despised there hurtful nature. Although they held fabulous parties, many of which Ginny often attended, she still disliked their guts. However, due to a certain blonde haired boy, Ginny felt that joining slytherin wouldn't be too bad.
Recently, Ginny had been feeling strong feelings towards the boy. She didn't know if they were good or bad, but she knew they were strong. Now that she is in slytherin she may be closer to find what these feelings mean.
'Miss Weasley?' Dumbledores voice echoed through the room.
On the Slytherin table a Mr Draco Malfoy couldn't contain himself.
'Dude, what is wrong with you?' Asked Blaize, Draco's best friend, 'you are smiling. Like really smiling. Are you okay? Weaslette is in our house-' He was cut off by Dumbledoors stern voice.'Ginny please come forward.'
Draco watched the red headed girl, slowly stand. She looked mortified. It was if the world stopped. She was in slytherin. Draco couldn't contain it anymore. He loved Ginny and now she was in slytherin, he can finally be with her.
Draco completely blanked his fiend then rose to his feet and began clapping. The entire hall looked at him with daggers. They thought he was mocking Ginny and being sarcastic, when in reality he was having a party.
She then turned to him. They had been seeing more of each other over these last few weeks and every time he looked at her she still took his breath away. Even if she was glaring at him.
Draco immediately stopped clapping and sat down.
Ginny continued her 'death walk' to the front of the hall, where everything she'd known would disappear.
As she got to the front her brain finally caught up. Ginny knew this was because of her. This was the rest of her punishment. This was it, she thought. She gripped her red robes, for she knew it would be the last time she'd be wearing them, and braced herself.
Ginny held her hand out to receive the green scroll.
As her fingertips touched the paper, her red robes turned green. She felt dirty. Slytherin. Even the name made her cringe. My happy life ends here, she thought.
'Welcome to slytherin, Ginny. I think you'll like it there.' Said Dumbledore, whispering the last part, so only she could hear.
She then turned. Everyone's face was one of shock, confusion and anger. How dare they take their Ginny, they thought (apart from the Slytherins of course) she stood up to the Slytherins, put them in their place.
'No!' Yelled Harry. Then the rest of the school began a revolt, to keep Ginny.
'Take me not her!' Yelled Dean. 'She doesn't deserve to be in slytherin!' Yelled Seamus. 'Not my baby sister!' Exclaimed Ron.The remarks continued and after several attempts to shut them up by Dumbledore, Mcgonagle and even Snape joined in, the children continued to moan.
Draco thought it was remarkable. One girl started this off? It was a joke to him and he began to laugh. But it was Ginny, he thought. He would do anything for her. He then went into a dream world, where he and she could be together. But not making it obvious of course.
The uprising continued- making Dumbledore rethink his plans- should he have done this? Did he go to far?
Ginnys head began to boil. Although she was happy people were sticking up for her, she didn't want them to- she deserved it, she thought.
'Shut up!' She bellowed. The whole hall went quiet. Her shrill voice even bought Malfoy out of his head.
'Thank you.' She began, 'Thank you, everyone, but let's face it- who could cope being in slytherin? Would you rather it me or some poor fith year?' That made everyone go quiet and think. She was right.
She then walked towards the slytherin table, looking for a place to sit. There were plenty of seats, however, not one person offered it to her. Draco felt sorry for her. She was a lovely person once you got to know her- obviously Draco didn't know her, but he overheard her with her friends and she was just like him and his friends.
I once she was five seats away, Draco scooted over, making room for her. Once she was opposite him he patted the empty seat. All the Slytherins around him looked mortified, appart from Blaize and Pansy, his closest friends, who suspected there friend had feelings for the Weaslette.
Blaize and Pansy exchanged looks, having a silent discussion between each other- to follow the rest of Slytherins actions or stick with their friend. Coming to an agreement, the two smiled warmly at Ginny, who looked gob smacked.
No. Way.
She glanced at the rest of the table. No seats for the ex-griffindor. Her last option.
She smiled, saying thank you with her eyes, and sat down.
