Walking through the streets of Hogsmade, dressed in a loose ankle lengthed white dress, Ginny crosses her arms over her chest as she neered her destination. The morning breeze nipped at her exposed arms and pure face as the dawn air filled her lungs. Her hair hung freely to her elbows- loose natural curls tickling her freckled pale skin.
At this time of morning, the streets were deserted and the only sign of life was the morning birds sweet song, perched on aged rooftops of the shops. A thin veil of mist hovered over the ground, leaving a small trail of swirls behind her.
She was heading to nowhere in particular- simply following the natural pathway that her feet trekked.
It had been a month since the battle, a month since the Order won, and a week since she woke up.
When she was asleep at St Mungos, she received hardly any visitors. She was told, her parents were constant visitors, along with all her siblings, to her still body. Her mother making sure their was always a fresh bunch of flowers in the glass vase that sat besides her bed. Madame Malkin visited once, as did her teachers and friends, but not him.His parents did, however. His mother even took the liberty of getting the hospital to move her to a private room, but he had never once visited her. Ginny had hoped he would be cemented to her side, waiting anxiously for her to awake- but it was no use. He did not visit.
The only people she had seen, since waking, were her parents and brothers. None of her school friends- apart from Hermione, of course- but her and Ron had become inseparable since the war, it was clear a beautiful relationship had finally blossomed.
Ginny received hundreds of 'get well soon' letters, boxes of chocolates and several toys from the twins joke shop. A letter from the Harpies was given to her on the third day she woke up, informing her training would be postponed till the Wizarding world was recovered.
No one knew she was outside- walking along the streets of Hogsmade, dressed in only a thin summers dress. She had been forced to stay in bed, not even being allowed to leave to grab a glass of water. It was if she was at the hospital again, but only this time, it was in her comfortable home.
Sneaking out was as easy as it was when she was seven, slipping out the back door to steal her brothers quidditch brooms and fly until there was no more sky to be invaded. Though this time it wasn't by her own accord.
A throbbing ache in her chest drew her to Hogsmade, and though she was unsure as to why, she was confident enough in herself to follow her gut, even in the early hours of the morning.
Movement in-front of her tore Ginny's eyes away from the cobblestone path, and to the other person in the still village.
Dressed in a set of cotton pyjamas, and under a mess of blonde hair, Draco Malfoy stood, looking as exhausted as Ginny felt. After spotting the girl, Draco's bagged eyes widened, and not a second later he was dashing down the path, his gaze focused on her.
The aching in Ginny's chest thumped deeper, and the urge to be encased into his arms was the remedy. Before Ginny could make a move to meet him, he was already in-front of her, and swept her up in his arms. She instinctively leached into him, securing her limbs around his body to confirm if he was actually real.
The pain immediately stopped, and Ginny realised it was him who led her here. Being with the wizard she loved, tears began to build up in her eyes. The week in which she was awake, Ginny craved his presence like alcohol to an alcoholic- a drug she needed so desperately the world felt irrelevant without him there.
Peeling her damp eyes from his t-shirt, Ginny's eyes became locked in ice, drowning in the crystal pool of his orbs.
"I'm sorry I didn't visit- I- I couldn't see you like that. After you killed Voldemort- I- I had to carry you to the infirmary and- and you looked so pale- after you got treated, I just-"
Silencing him with a kiss, Ginny smiled.
"I'm fine now. I just needed to rest." She reassured him, as he sighed, resting his head on her chest as he encircled his arms around her tighter.
"How are your family?" He asked, bringing his head back up to level with hers.
"They're okay." Ginny smiled, "Fred's all better and Harry is completely fine."
"Oh yeah- I forgot about Potter."
"Harry." Ginny corrected sternly, "he and Sirius have been helping rebuild Hogwarts. Tonks is doing well to. Teddy inherited her crazy hair."
"I still can't believe Professor ware wolf and her are together." Draco chuckled, as Ginny hit his arm lightly.
"It's Remus. You should come to dinner some time. I think Tonks misses your mum." Ginny spoke softly, as Draco nodded. "How is Blaise?"
"He's doing good. Seamus is basically his nurse." He laughed, before turning silent, "I still can't believe we are free from him." He grinned, his eyes shining with hope.
"So, what now?" Ginny asked, after a beat of silence, holding hands with him.
"I guess we don't need to hide anymore." He smiled, becoming swallowed in her honey orbs.
"We can go out on proper dates- maybe to London again?" She asked hopefully.
"Or Paris." Draco smiled adoringly, as he looked to Ginny.
"Paris?" Ginny gasped, her mouth open.
"Anywhere. As long as I can spend every breath of the rest of my life with you." He spoke, leaning in for a longing kiss.
"A Weasley and a Malfoy? Who would have thought?" She smiled, leaning in.
"I guess it's just our destiny." He added, before capturing her lips in his.
