"Ginny?!" Draco yelled, as he saw through the air, raindrops harassing his bare, pale skin, causing goosebumps to erupt all over his body.

The thick sheet of rain made it almost impossible for Draco to see any further than the top of his broom. He couldn't believe how quick the weather changed; one minute it was bright and sunny- the next, thunder clouds were threatening to spill.

"Ginny?!" He yelled again.

He flew all over the school, checking every inch of the sky, he didn't know what he would do if he lost Ginny- she had been his rock ever since they had befriended each other- he needed her.

After an hour of searching, Draco frustratedly made his way to his tree, which he and Ginny danced around.

As his broom hovered over the ever growing lake, he spotted a abandoned broom, lying on the edge of the lake. It's handle kissing the water with each wave.

Landing on the floor, he grabbed the broom. After examining it, he realised it was Ginny's.

As the rain drops dripped of his soaked clothes and hair, he searched hopelessly for the girl.

He could hardly see a thing, for the heavens had finally cracked open, unleashing an unearthly amount of rain on the land.

He heard quiet sobs from his tree and plodded over to it, not caring that he was soaking wet and would catch cold if he stayed out any longer. As he drew near, the faint melody of cries grew stronger. When the tree was in sight, he realised no one was there.

A small weep was heard above his head, and Draco realised Ginny was sitting on its stable branch.

He began his ascend and finally reached her branch, but she was too busy sobbing her eyes out to notice the blonde company.

He hoisted his body onto the bark and hung his wet legs over the trunk, and scooted next to the sobbing girl. He slowly placed a comforting arm round her waste, making her freeze, his presence finally recognised.

Her red and puffy eyes finally met his perturbed pair. He gave a crooked smile and slight nod as her sobs intensified in his strong arms.

"Why does everyone hate me? What did I do wrong?" She weeped, glueing her face to his chest.

"No one hates you, Gin. You are too lovely for anyone to do that." He tried to comfort her. He wasn't the best at emotions and that stuff as he would call it, so stuck with quiet humming while rubbing her back.

Sadly, ten minutes later, her crying did not stop, so Draco gambled on speaking.

"Gin, hun, you are so kind, so brave, so intelligent, so lovely- no one could hate you. You are so beautiful and have a too good heart, I couldn't find a bad bone in your body if I tried." He smiled. Thankfully her tears seemed to lessen. Surprisingly, the hard rain turned onto light tickles of water. Thinking that was a good sign, he continued, "You have hundreds of friends- you are not the Griffindors Princess' for nothing." He chuckled, but immediately recoiled as she stopped crying altogether. The rain had suddenly stopped to, the thunder clouds threatening growing stronger, due to the build up of unshed rain. He couldn't even feel her chest moving with each breath. Whipping her eyes, she retreated back to her side of the branch.

"We shouldn't be friends. Whatever this" she said pointing to the space between herself and the boy, "is has to stop."

He could see the pain in her eyes as she turned away and hopped off the tree. He quickly followed, in want of an explanation.

"Why?!" He called, having to run to catch up with her.

She didn't say anything, only shaking her head as she picked up her broom and flew back to the castle. Draco stood, watching her frame fly further and further away. Deciding he would finally fight for something he believed in, he mounted his own broom, and dashed after her.

They flew over the vast lake and Draco watched helplessly as she landed on the wet ground of the courtyard. She quickly dashed to the arches as Draco landed, a few steps behind her.

He kept up with her quick pace, all the way to the dungeons, where Pansy, Blaise and Theo had just left.

"Stop her!" Draco yelled, helplessly out of breath.

They complied, forming a humans wall, similar to the one the ravenclaw girls had done to Ginny in the library.

"What's wrong?" Theo asked, fearfully, stepping infront of Ginny as she tried to slip out of the square.

"Ginny, please..." Draco breathed helplessly.

She turned to face his fatigued form, clothes still soaking, leaving a small puddle beneath him. No one had ever seen him so desperate- almost broken. Ginny felt a pang in her heart seeing him like this.

"I... I can't do this." She said, trying to contain her tears.

She tried to slip out from the square, but Blaise stuck a hand out, a firm gaze saying, stay, plastered his face, making Ginny shrink back to the centre.

"Please..." Draco helplessly begged again.

"Before I moved here, do you think we would have been friends?" She asked, as they silently shook their heads, "Do you think we would have been allowed to be friends?" They shook again, glum. "Do you think we could be friends again when I move back?" She croaked, already knowing the answer, before they shook their heads. "I've found you guys to be some of my closest friends, I don't want to lose you all-"

"You wont!" Squeaked Pansy, knowing where this conversation was going, a silent tear escaping her eye.

"Everyone knows Slytherins and Griffindors don't mix." Ginny said, sternly, but, at the same time broken, "it's better to put an end to us before it becomes too much where we cannot." She croaked, gazing at Draco, washed out; all bright hope lost in her aurora. His heart broke, it felt as if his body was being mutilated.

"What if I don't care what people think?" He strongly whispered, prepared to sacrifice everything to stay with her.

"You know it can't happen." She gave him a melancholic smile as she answered, reflecting his whisper. Turning to all of them, she forced out a reluctant goodbye.

A tear slipped from her glassy eyes, as she turned to the dungeons, breaking all five of their hearts with each step.

None of them spoke for the remainder of the day; Ginny stayed in her bed, drew her drapes, shutting out her room mates, muttered a quick silencing spell, and cried herself to sleep, clutching Draco's hoodie, from the day they skived, and hugged it close to her face, inhaling his faint cologne. Draco made Ginny feel unknown feelings, that made her heart beat quicken and her body to radiate- as if in a volcano. No boy had made her feel as Draco did. His cracked face staining her mind as she finally nodded off.

Theo and Blaise sat in-front of the fire, shook by the departure of a new, unexpected friend. Neither saying anything to passing Slytherins. Pansy watched her friends closed curtains till she fell asleep, waiting for them to burst open, and the spirited red head laugh and exclaim it was all a joke. But that did not happen.

Draco lay in his bed, clutching his chest, which felt like it was split in two. He didn't want to live knowing he couldn't see Ginny's lively face every day. Voldemort's power was growing fast by each passing day, and he knew it would not belong till his father would be forced to bring him to the dark side. The only hope he had was Ginny and now she was gone. He had to get her back. No life was worth living without her.
