One and Only

Chapter 43

Jemma's pov:

Michael and I have been home almost a month. 

It's so different now. We go out to dinner or the movies. We go shopping together. It's a huge relief to be able to be seen in public together. 

We've run into a few people from school but since I'm out of school they don't really question anything. Especially since they've seen me at school shadowing him and Jack.

I guess they just assume we're friends, since most are still under the impression that I dated Skip. 

Hell I think some of them still think it was Skip that I married. Not that I care, anyone that matters knows Michael is the only Jenkins I was ever or will ever be with.

Michael has had several 'meetings' since we've been back and has told me the gist of them all. He wasn't joking when he said the General was going to test him. 

He didn't seem worried about it though.

In fact, he's been kinda cocky but truthfully it's a big turn on. At least for me it is when he's the one being arrogant. Then again anything he does is a turn on for me.

He found out yesterday that he was indeed as kick ass as they thought he was. So the job is his and we'll be moving at the end of June. 

So we have a few weeks to settle in before he begins teaching on the base.

The renovations are just about complete at The Zone and the new club is being set up. We're still about 4 months from the grand opening but once I get up there I'll be overseeing the final touches. 

Pop's of course will be there for our big opening but he said he trusts me to be able to staff it and run it day to day. He's only a phone call away if I need him.

Tina is about 3 weeks from her due date. Skip still doesn't want to know what they're having but the rest of us all know she's having a boy. 

Enough time has passed that I don't feel that little tinge of jealousy about they're baby anymore.

I know one day Michael and I will have our own children but in the mean time we get to spoil our nephew and I've already volunteered for babysitting duty so Tina and Skip can have adult time.

 She's gonna stay with us for the next month then move into Skip's apartment in Copperas Cove. So the only one that will be missing from my immediate group will be Robby and I guess Jack too. Now that his secret and ours is all out, we've all gotten closer. 

Hell him and Robby were paired up in our bridal party.

Tina and Robby graduate in a little over a week.

 Today is May 4th also known as Senior Prom. 

Michael is one of the chaperons along with Jack. So Robby Pop has graciously decided I'll be his date. Our guys were all for that. This way I get to go and Robby doesn't have to be a third wheel to Tina and Skip.

I slipped on my heels and took a last look at myself in the mirror. I'd done my hair half up with cascading waves and kept my make up simple with smokey eyes and light lipstick. My dress was beautiful. Tina and I picked it up a couple of weeks ago but no one else has seen it. It's a dark silver satin a-line empire v-neck floor-length with a slit up to the middle of one thigh.

My favorite part is the back though. It's almost bare all the way down to the top of my butt, except two thin straps that cross the lower back. 

It's hella sexy and I'm looking forward to teasing Michael all night!
