"So... we're in agreement?" Logan whispered with tears in his eyes as he looked over at his son who just nodded. "When Patton goes, we'll do a pyre. You'll handle the flower arrangements and I'll handle the uh... the guest and all that. All we have to decide now is... who's going to light the flame." Logan's eyes fell the moment he looked up to see the look Virgil was giving him. "No."
"Come on."
"No, Virgil." Virgil rolled his eyes as he leaned back against the couch in exhaustion. "I am not letting Roman be the one to light it."
"He literally has fire powers, Father." Logan just shook his head as Virgil growled. "He's here ok. He's here. He's going to be at the funeral with me, because I am going to need his support. The least you can do is consider his help."
"I do not want Roman..."
"Are you going to be able to do it?" Logan froze as Virgil just smiled at him knowingly. "Can you light the pyre? Because... I can tell you right now, I won't be able able to."
"I have allowed Roman to stay on this island... do not press me any father. I told you to give me time. This is a serious matter."
"And I am being serious... You've never experienced Roman's fire. You don't know what it's like." Logan rolled his eyes as he picked up the stack of papers before him and moved to fixing them all up.
"I say the flame on Patton and that was more than enough to know that I don't want it."
"That was the flame of a very sick and drained man... It was not the fire I was talking about. If Roman did it, we wouldn't even need accelerant." Logan just frowned as Virgil shook and teared up himself. "I don't know. I don't know. I'm sorry, but... I just... I couldn't help but imagine what it would be like if Patton got sent off by the literal god of creativity and romance and passion... I thought it might have made things a bit... nicer but... Roman would probably say no anyway. He would probably feel as if he was imposing."
"Virgil..."
"I'm gonna go for a walk." Logan sighed as Virgil carefully pushed himself up with a frown. "Maybe some fresh air will help me. If you see Roman..."
"I'll let him know." Virgil smiled in thanks as he started for the door. "Oh, and Virgil?" Logan's eyes darkened as he held the papers tightly. "Try to stay away from the apple grove... everything beyond that is corrupted."
"Got it." Logan watched Virgil walk out before finally getting up himself and sighing. He's been doing that a lot lately. He carefully set the stacks of paper on his desk before leaving as well. He wanted to visit Patton again as the other wasn't doing good at all anymore. He hardly ever woke up and the doctors were all saying it was a matter of days now. He knew Virgil wasn't doing well about it all. On top of that, he was also very worried about...
"Roman?" Logan froze up as he spotted the exgod leaning against the wall panting in obvious pain. Roman frowned as he looked over only to jumped up and pretend nothing was wrong.
"Logan. I uh... I thought you were talking with Virgil?"
"I was." Logan frowned with worry as Roman swayed and once again leaned against the wall as if unable to support himself. "Roman, you do not look well at all."
"I'm fi..." Roman started to fall making Logan have to catch him much to the other's confusion, as he didn't even realize he had lost his balance. "Lo? What?"
"Come on. I'm getting you back into bed. We have enough going on with Patton. If anything happened to you on top of it..."
"Im fine." Roman weekly tried to argue as Logan carefully led him back to his room, keeping him on his feet despite Roman having nearly no strength at all.
"No, you are not. You are ill and need to rest." Roman frowned as Logan pushed open his door only to frown seeing the place a mess.
"Sorry." Roman chuckled lightly as Logan placed him on the bed. "I was trying to... try to uh... I don't remember." Logan's eyes darted about seeing the many different sketches and painting that was littered about the place. Many if not all were about Virgil or flowers. Logan's eyes narrowed as he spotted one the was off and over the top view of Virgil asleep with the 'heart' on his chest. "I guess I had a muse'd moment. It just happens sometimes." Roman laid back against the pillow shivering badly as he pulled the pillow in. "I'll... I'll take care of it in the morning."
"No don't strain yourself." Logan frowned as he carefully picked up all the pencil sketches and put them all in a nice neat pile. "You need to get better for Virgil's sake. He's far to worried about you."
"I sorry..." Roman half mumble through the sleep catching Logan's attention. "I hope... not distracting him. Don't... want to upset you."
"I'm not upset. I am concerned though." Roman sleepily smiled as he nuzzled into the pillow only to wince in pain. "Roman..."
"I-I'm f-fine. I'm fine. Not... Not sick." Logan's face softened as he slowly brought the blanket up till it was covering the exgod properly with a sad smile. He never really expected to see someone he had learned to be so angry and fearful of in such a sickly state. "I'm not. I... I swear, I'm not..."
"Hush now Roman. Just rest..."
"V-Virg-..." Logan's eyes snapped up as Roman whimpered in his sleep. "S-Storm-m... I... I'm sorry. I... I..." Roman went lax making Logan actually tense up and he groaned in frustration.
"Now, I have someone else to worry about... as if my dying husband wasn't enough." Logan deflated with a sigh as he shook his head as he went back to straightening up everything so that it wasn't such a mess. Hopefully, with it not so cluttered, Roman would be able to actually get better. "I hope anyway... Rest up, Roman. I don't want you up until you can actually stand."
