A few day's later and Virgil and Roman were standing there staring at a beautiful weeping sakura tree. After the fire had died out on Patton's pyre and all the islanders had gone home, Virgil had used his own power to make a tree grow from the ashes left behind. He just couldn't not...

This was Patton's tree.

Virgil smiled as Roman rubbed his arm supportively. Virgil knew they had to go. They needed to get back to there mission even if Roman respectively said that Virgil should give himself time to mourn. He's been mourning and he'll continue to do so but... He can't risk others losing their lives as Patton did his because he was here and not with Thomas. Their mission was important. And unfortunately, as Virgil glanced off to the side to see the blackened veins of corruption snaking closer, he realized their time was running out.

"We have to go, Roman." Roman sighed as he looked over to where Virgil was and nodded. "And you're sure Thomas will know how to fix this?"

"I told you, Virge. It has to do with his heart. He has to know." Virgil frowned as his hand went to his chest making Roman frown. "Hey, it's all going to be ok. We'll save Thomas, get him back to his senses, fix everything, and get him to sleep."

"I know we will. I'm just worried." Roman smiled softly as he pulled his love in just stayed like that in each other's arms. "But more than anything... we need to get going. I don't want the corruption getting to dad's tree."

"It won't." Virgil frowned in confusion as Roman's eyes flashed white. "Nothing is ever going to hurt his tree. They promised me."

"Who..." There was a crush of thunder and Virgil's eyes went wide as Roman nodded. "Thank you."

"Don't thank me, Love. I told you Patton will be cared for. That tree will stay standing because he's protected by the gods... and not just by me. Now..." Roman pulled away till only one arm was wrapped around the other as he smiled sadly and gestured towards the house. "Let's go say by to your father."

"Do you have everything?" Logan whispered slightly as Virgil nodded holding his bag firmly to his shoulders. Logan still wasn't much of a talker yet but he wasn't completely silent anymore. "Are you sure?"

"I thought I was the anxious one." Logan frowned with obvious nerves as Virgil quickly pulled him into a hug. "I'm good. I've got supplies and extra bottles for water because Roman said it's going to be really hot there. I also have my knives so I'm set."

"What about Roman? Does he have everything?" Virgil chuckled seeing how worried his father was over the both of them. He understood. He was too. They both had lost Patton. He was just pleasantly surprised over Logan's change in thought of Roman. Over this whole time, Logan went from hating the exgod to caring for him like a son. Virgil couldn't have been happier to know that his fathers cared for his love. Now... all they had to do was get through to Thomas. "Virgil?"

"I'm good too, Lo." Roman lulled as he joined the two holding his own bag with a smile. "I hope you don't mind but I left somethings in 'my room'. I had to make room for things that I needed so..."

"It's fine. Just as long as you do have everything that you need. I don't want you forgetting anything and either of you getting hurt." Roman paused for a second honestly taken back by the concern before smiling.

"I have everything." Roman fixed the bag on his shoulder with a laugh as Logan's eyes narrowed. "Don't worry. I know to expect."

"What about flounder?" Roman paled making Logan tense with worry. "Roman, did you remember flounder?"

"It's not like I need him."

"What if you get separated? You need him to keep yourself from getting touch starved. You get sick very fast without Virgil." Roman frowned as he glanced between the two with confusion.

"But... I'm never going to be without Vir-..."

"Please tell me you have the fish." Roman sighed as he pulled his bag off and opened it to reveal the glittery flounder stuffy making Logan sigh in relief.

"Virgil stood there reminding me about it every time we were in the same room together. I have the fish." Roman smiled as he closed his bag up and draped it over his shoulder again. "I don't need it as my mission is to be protecting Virgil... not getting separated from him."

"It doesn't matter." Virgil whispered as he nuzzled into the older. "We just want you to be safe."

"And I need a stuffed fish from the little mermaid to be safe?"

"If it keeps you from being touch starved and falling into the sickly state you were in before..." Logan muttered with a slight glare. "... yes, very much so."

"Jesus..." Roman laughed as he shook his head and groaned. "Fine. I concede. It's better to be safe then... well in this case in a lot of pain." Virgil smiled as he pulled away from Roman and gave his father a hug.

"I love you. We'll be back soon." Logan nodded as he hugged Virgil back with tears in his eyes. When Virgil finally pulled away, Logan glanced over to see Roman smiling at him.

"I..."

"You don't have to." Logan cut him off before Roman could even say what it was and smiled. "I know you'll do everything you can to keep him safe." Roman nodded slightly only to jump, eyes flashing that pale blue-grey in shock as Logan pulled him into a hug to. "I know you'll watch over him because I do believe you love him." Roman's eyes filled with tears as he finally hugged Logan back. "Just make sure that whatever you do... you don't sacrifice yourself like the stupid dramatic prince character you are." Roman laughed as he pulled away shaking his head. Logan's eyes darkened as he squeezed Roman's arms drawing his attention in again. "I mean it, Roman. Promise me you'll both be safe."

"I seem to be doing this a lot lately but..." Roman's eyes filled with determination as he nodded with a smile. "I give you my word as a god. I will do whatever I can... to keep us both safe."
