"Dad?" Virgil slowly made his way over to the bed and his heart just dropped. Patton was in very bad shape. He was flushed and slicked with sweat from an obvious fever. His breathing was whispy and labored as his face scrunched in pain. "Dad... It's Virgil." Virgil carefully took his hand as he smiled sadly over at the sickly man. "I just... I want to say I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry about all of this. Not... Not just about Thomas but about me to. I never knew... Having to raise a demi must have been hard as it is but having to raise and protect a literal god's son... Having to protect me and raise me and keep me safe from that other..." Virgil could feel himself choking up as he spoke making it harder. "You all must have had such a hard time trying to protect me and Thomas both. I know I never really made it easy on you. Now Thomas is in trouble and it's my fault to..." Virgil felt the tears beginning to fall as he squeezed Patton's hand tightly. "I'm going to fix this. I'm going to make it better. I'll save Thomas from himself and everything is going to be ok. I promise..." Virgil placed Patton's hand beside him as he pushed himself up only to freeze seeing Patton's fingers twitch. "Dad?"

"Don't..." Virgil tensed up as his tears fell harder seeing Patton's eyes flutter open. "Don't apologize, Kiddo." Patton smiled weakly as Virgil covered his mouth to suppress the chocked sobs. "None of this is your fault... besides..." Patton reached out taking Virgil's hand again. "We all love you. You just as much our son as you are Thomas's. The time I got with you was the best in my life."

"But your..."

"Thomas saved my life yes... He healed me when I got sick so I could spend my life caring for you like he would have wanted to." Patton coughed as he squeezed Virgil's hand. "I know... I know you feel at fault but Kiddo... You didn't cause any of this. I'm sick now because Thomas is in pain... Pain caused by not by you but because of things outside of your control. And you didn't cause me any trouble, Virgil. Raising you made my life worth something. Being your dad was the best in the world. Don't apologize for being loved."

"Dad..."

"It's ok, Kiddo." Patton tensed as he curled up in bed to shield himself from the cold. "I know you'll be safe. I raised you to be strong and brave. Just as Logan raised you to be smart and resourceful."

"I love you, Dad."

"To the moon and back, Kiddo." Virgil watched as Patton slowly slipped back to sleep as he tried to calm his breathing. It's ok. Their all going to be ok. He just had to get Thomas to see. And the sooner he does the better.

Virgil jumped up to his feet only for the room to spin. He stood there for a good five minutes before everything calmed down. He needed to hurry. He needed to get to Thomas... before he ends up sick to. After all, Thomas didn't heal him. Thomas didn't make Virgil better no... Thomas literally brought Virgil to life. If Thomas is taking everything back, it's only a matter of time before Virgil dies. And on top of that... Virgil's only alive because he has Thomas's heart.

Virgil's hand went his chest as he felt his power surge a bit. Logan wasn't wrong. It's not safe. He's not just a demi. He's Thomas's son. He's the heart of Te Fiti. If demons find out about it, they'll try to take from him. Plus on top of that, there's that god who wants him dead.

Virgil shook as he pushed himself out of the room. He didn't have time for fear. He had an island to save.

"VIRGIL!" Virgil froze up with a smile as he spun around to find Joan running after him. He had hoped to sneak out without seeing anyone. He loved his father but it would only make it harder to leave if he had to say goodbye. He turned around only to get slammed into by his energetic friend. "How dare you try to leave without me?"

"Joan you know you can't come with me." Joan pulled away pulling their beanie off with a tense frown. "Joan..."

"You can't go alone, Virgil. What about you're anxiety? What about the nightmare? Who's going to help calm you down if you have an episode?" Virgil smiled softly as he held Joan's hands close.

"I'll be ok, Joan. What I need from you is to take care of my parents." Joan shook their head as Virgil just chuckled. "You are the only one I can trust to, Joan."

"But... you need me." Joan tensed as he twisted his hands so Virgil and Joan where both hold each other. "I know you're strong but I also know your fears. You could have an attack and then what. Plus Virgie, you have nightmares every night."

"I'll manage. Dad needs help. And my Father isn't going to be in a good place. You are the only other person left who knows about our family dynamic. You know all of us. You know how we work, how we think. Father's going to need your advice. Dad's going to need your nurturing. I need you here." Joan's eyes waters as Virgil smiled fondly at his best friend. "I'm going to be ok. I need you to promise me you'll stay and help them." Joan sighed as they stepped back wiping their tears away with a short nod. "Joan... please."

"I'll stay. But only if you promise me you'll be ok." Virgil laughed as he held his bag up with a smirk.

"I got flounder... I think I got all the help I need." The sound of someone yelling caught Virgil's attention who looked back to see the caption waving his arms in the air. "Looks like I have to get going, Joan." Virgil held his bag tightly as he slowly inched his way to the ramp. "I'm going to ok I promise."

"It's ok, Virgie. I believe you." Joan smirked with a soft laugh. "Go save your godfather." Virgil's eyes widen as Joan started laughing.

"Oh god, that actually makes sense now!" Virgil ran off listening to the sound of his friend's laughter melting into the distance. He tensed with anxiety the moment he stepped onto the boat. There were so many people. He quickly sidestepped out of the way of everyone before finding his cabin and collapsing onto the bed. He looked out of his window with anxious expression watching the boat slowly sail away from the only home he's ever known. "Don't worry guys... I'll fix everything."
