"Demons and their Demi's have always been allowed here. This island is inclusive to everyone." Roman frowned as he glanced around at the board members and sighed. "But you are correct with the increase in divine Demi's that visiting and or moving here it would do to have some sort of a plan in place for the demonic. We shouldn't just allow the divine to get sick but we can't discriminate them over something they have no control over."
"They're demonic..." Roman's frown only grew as several people mumbled in agreement with one of the members. "They shouldn't be allowed on the island."
"So you're saying that Remus, my brother, his husband Janus, and their daughter Kiara, shouldn't be allowed to come here because their demonic?" The main paled as Roman just glanced off to the side in a huff of annoyance. "I understand your concern."
"Yet you refused to close the borders."
"Gaurdwell closed theirs."
"And Applegate too." Roman just sat there listening to the room come alive with complaints. It's been like this for so long. Ever since he became chief 15 years ago they've all been saying the same thing. "This island has become a haven for demi since you came here. And with everything about Virgil going around on the mainland and in Gaurdwell, even more attention has come to this place. We have to start treating it as it is. This is a home for demis."
"This is a home for all." Roman groaned as in frustration as he waiting till he had all eyes on him. "Applegate and Gaurdwell are secluded islands dedicated ONLY to divine demi's. I was only even allowed into Gaurdwell because several people took pity on me and took me in. At the time I was not considered a demi. They had to fight just to get me to stay. I do not want my island... OUR island to become like that. A place where no humans or demonic can be. You are all humans yourself. Do you want our home to be like that?"
"No. Not really." Roman smiled softly as he leaned against the table now that he had their attention completely.
"I want this place to be open because of people like Virgil..." There eyes went wide as Roman literally beamed with pride. "... He was a divine AND demonic demi, yet he was so kind-hearted. There are demonic demi's out there like Kiara and Virgil who are sweet and caring, but are pushed aside and hated because a demon chose them and not a god. Do you think Virgil would want us to close our gate?"
"No." Roman watched as they all started to shake their head and he nodded.
"Then why should we?" Their eyes darkened as Roman started to write somethings down on a notepad he had brought with him. It wasn't much, just some ideas he could do for the island, but it still kept him busy. "And on top of all that, if we closed the gates to the demonic... how would Thomas get to see his son?"
"He's not a..." One of the men clammed up seeing the Roman had given him and they all paled. "He's a demon?"
"He's both a god and a demon. He's the one that chose Virgil. Yet he never caused any problems did he?" Again they all shook their heads and Roman knew he had gotten them. "As I said before, I understand your concern, and measures WILL taken to address them. However, this island will not close their gate to anyone because of who they are. This island inclusive and caring to all who enter it. And just as I protect this island... I will also protect those who are ON this island... that includes the demonic."
"No. You're right." Roman smiled as the room filled with murmurs of agreement. "You're always right."
"Well, I wouldn't say always... but yes I am." They all started to laugh as Roman picked up his things and sighed. "I will go over everything we've discussed today and try to come up with some solutions for our next meeting but until then please do take care and don't hesitate to find me if you need anything."
"That was a long one." Roman rolled his eyes as he spotted Joan standing there outside the meeting room with a smile. "I was wondering if I was going to have to come in and rescue you."
"I was not kidnapped, Joan." Roman chuckled as he started off letting Joan follow after him. "So I see you've returned? How long are you planning to stay this trip?"
"Not long. Talyn and I are only here for the festival."
"Awe, yes. The festival." Roman beamed as they walked out into the nice crisp air and he let out a deep breath. "There's just so much to be doing. I did manage to finish the script for the play the theater will be performing. I think everyone is going to enjoy that."
"Are you going to be acting?" Roman frowned as he glanced over to see Joan smiling at him.
"Joan you know I don't act."
"Awe, but you're really good at it. You are literally God of the arts... acting is apart of that." Roman Just his head as the two started walking again.
"I don't act, Joan. I write scripts and perform songs and stuff, maybe a few skits but... I haven't been on an actual stage in a fairly long time. I can't even remember the last time." Joan tensed up in realization as Roman glanced off to the side. "You know being on stage makes me uncomfortable."
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought it up." Roman just shook his head as he nudged his friend lightly.
"Don't worry about it. You forgot. It's fine. I honestly don't really understand why I can't be on stage. You're right, I am the god of creativity and the arts. Acting is a part of that but..." Roman's eyes darkened as he clenched his fists at his side. "I can't remember what happened to make me not like acting anymore."
"William Shakespeare?" Roman's brow quirked in thought as Joan's eyes went wide. "Wait? You forgot William Shakespeare?"
"No, I didn't forget William Shakespear." Roman just laughed it off oblivious to the pain in his friend's eyes. "He's a playwright from the 1500s. He wrote Romeo and Juliet and all that. Alot of good works that I can't ever get myself to actually read for some reason. But I don't understand why he would be why I don't like acting."
"You forgot Will." Roman's eyes narrowed as Joan just smiled. "Don't worry about it, Roman. Trust me on this... this time forgetting is a good thing."
"If you say so..."
