"Wait..." Roman frowned as absentmindedly held his hands out letting Virgil curl up into him. His eyes narrowed as he held him tightly getting a bit lost in his thoughts. "We never actually went over that. How... How are you here, Virgil?"
"I made a deal." Roman's eyes went wide as Virgil just smiled snuggling into his chest. "How else would I have?"
"With who?" Thomas whispered as if afraid for some reason. Virgil frowned in confusion as his eyes met with the other god just sitting there trying to figure it all out. "Because... Roman made a deal with Remus so... Oh, shoot." Virgil just nodded as Thomas's eyes narrowed. "You made a deal with Remus."
"WHAT?" Virgil cringed as Roman quickly backtracked, tracing stars and hearts into his loves back to help keep him calm. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell. I just..."
"I was upset." Virgil mumbled making everyone else clam up. "I was upset... on the verge of crying... Besides Thomas, he was the only one I knew I could call up there to talk to about this. I mean... Hades, Persephone, and I spoke a lot. Anubis and I would hang out some but they weren't about of any of this. Beside Patton and Lo... I didn't really have much about back then."
"Virg..." Virgil frowned as Thomas just sighed in understanding.
"I was scared. Really really scared... I didn't know what else to do so... I called Remus up there. At first, we just talked. Got all caught up... I told him about everything I had been getting up to. Told him about me time with Will." Thomas paled as Roman just quirked a brow in confusion making Virgil smile. "I am very glad you don't remember him."
"Who's Will?"
"Not important, Princey. I just... had some fun is all." Virgil giggled as his aura branched out giving the air this feeling of anxiety that put a chill down your back. "Let's just say... Hades was impressed with me... and Will, well... like I said. I had fun."
"Virgil." Thomas scolded slightly as Virgil shot the man a VERY protective glare.
"Nobody hurts the man I love and expects to just... get away with it. Remus and Dyonisus didn't do him well enough justice. Ero couldn't be there long enough... I'm a god of lost souls. I can stay in the underworld for however long I want to and used my time wisely." Virgil smirked deviously as he giggled more. "I did my man proud. At least... I think so."
"Virgil?" Roman's confusion grew even more as Virgil just laughed in his arms. "What exactly did you do?"
"I took over punishment." Roman tensed as Virgil smiled.
"But... Hades doesn't let anyone..."
"Dude, Hades literally took me in when I got up there. When I died he watched over me and Patton both. When I became a god he was the one that claimed to help so that Zeus could relax. He and Persephone both watched over me and checked in if I was gone for a while." Roman's eyes shined as Virgil beamed. " He became very protective of me. Him, Persephone, Anubis..."
"Wait... You're a god of lost souls?"
"Fear and darkness." Roman and Virgil both called back at the same time as they just stared into each other's eyes, making Thomas reel back a bit.
"Uh..." Virgil rolled his eyes playfully as he turned his attention back to the other god.
"I'm the god of Fear and Darkness. Of lost souls and of the unknown... Of the broken and in need of guidance. I'm the protector to the hopeless and the shield to those in need. The patron god of all things dark, scared, and lost." Virgil's eyes narrowed as he slowly pushed up out of Roman's arms. "I'm the god of the sacrificed... and of justice and devotion. I'm... a lot of things really."
"Justice..."
"Revenge." Virgil responded making Roman's heart drop. "I'm a god of retribution... hence one of the reasons why Hades had no qualms with me taking over Will's punishment."
"That... is a lot." Thomas muttered under his breath. Virgil just nodded as he looked away and hugged himself. Roman frowned seeing the anxiety in his love clear as day.
"Virgil? What's wrong?"
"I'm sorry." Roman snapped over pulling his love back in as Virgil just stared blankly at nothing.
"Shh... Whatever it is, I'm sure it's nothing. It's ok. I've got you, A chroí." Virgil's face scrunched up a bit as he chuckled.
"What?"
"I said I've got you." Virgil rolled his eyes as he shook his head.
"No, I meant what did you just call me?" Roman's eyes widened a bit as his eyes flashed a pastel light red with embarrassment.
"Uh... I... I called you A chroí. Is tú mo chroí tar éis an tsaoil." Virgil eyes just filled with confusion as Roman just laughed. "Don't worry about it, Grá. Níl le déanamh agam ach mo ghrá a chur in iúl duit, ar bhealach atá nádúrtha domsa."
"Thomas?" Thomas threw his hand up with a laugh as he shook his head and wildly waved him off.
"Don't look at me. I don't have a clue what he's saying." Roman stuck his tongue out playfully before cuddling up into Virgil closely with a soft sigh. "Virgil... how exactly does your deal work?" And suddenly, Roman felt cold. His eyes narrowed as he up at his love with clear concern in his eyes.
"Yeah... How..."
"I don't want to talk about it." Roman tensed anxiety burning through him that Virgil could feel. "I'm ok, Roman. I promise."
"I'll feel better once the curse is broken and you're back to being a god again, Mo grá." Virgil smiled as he nodded before pushing himself up enough till they were eye to eye. "Please?"
"I don't want to do it just to break the curse, Ro. I have something really special planned. I'll break the curse. But I don't have to worry about it because I know you'll do everything you can to keep me safe... just as you always have."
"You still died on me." Virgil's eyes darkened as he nodded and sighed. He leaned in brushing their noses together not missing for one second how Roman melted and ghosted his lips anticipating the kiss... that didn't come. Virgil pressed a soft peck to his loves cheek, making Roman whine a bit, and laughed.
"I died because I made that choice. You did EVERYTHING you could to stop it... I didn't let you. My death is on me, Love." Virgil's eyes shined as he nuzzled into Roman's neck. "I'm never leaving you like that again."
