Roman sat there for a good second, just listening to the silence around him. His hand laced around Virgil's, who was fast asleep and recovering beside him. His eyes narrowed in thought as he held the notebook with his other hand. He just didn't understand...

How on earth he could've...

Roman laid himself down, the notebook placed behind him, and he just stared at Virgil with faded and dull red eyes. He smiled softly as he pulled him in and let his eyes slip shut feeling as Virgil wrapped his arms around him.

He didn't love him. He didn't know him... but at the same time, Roman knew... his heart belonged only to him.

"Virgil?" Roman knew he would have to get up soon. He just really didn't want to. Laying there in Virgil's arms felt familiar and safe. He wanted it to last. "Virgil, it's time to get up."

"No." That was all the other said as he snuggled into Roman more. The elder god just sighed as he shook his head and smiled, eyes still closed despite needing to getting up. "Stay."

"I can't. We need to..." Virgil smiled softly feeling Roman start to relax into him. "We need to... to go and... you need a... a-a..."

"Sleep, Roman." Roman frowned as Virgil held him closer giving him that much needed contact as he slowly drifted off. "You're just as exhausted as I am."

"No... No, I'm not. We have to..."

"...sleep." Virgil cut him off with a slight laugh as Roman went lax in his hold. Virgil could feel the energy the other gave off. Sure he couldn't feel his pain anymore. Virgil wasn't one of life and creation anymore. He was one of fear and darkness. He could sense that his love was afraid. Roman was very afraid, and he just wanted to help him. However, neither could help each other if they were drained... and or hurt.

Virgil grunted in pain as he moved to roll over and give Roman some space only to feel as the other pulled him back against his chest. Virgil couldn't help but smile. Roman may not remember but Virgil did and he was loving the feeling of being 'together' again, even if it wasn't in the same way. Roman may be to scared to read the book but that didn't matter in the long run. They were together. They may not be dating but Virgil was still beside his love. The same one that promised to stay by his side no matter what... the same one that asked him to marry him... That promised to always love him. He didn't know when he had fallen asleep again... all he knew was when he was woken up.

"V-Virge?" Roman whimpered slightly in his sleep making Virgil frown feeling as the other buried himself into Virgil's chest. "V-Vir... I... I'm sorry... I can't..." Roman cried as he shook in his arms. "D-Don't leave. D-Don't... I need... I... I'm sorry."

"Roman?" Virgil's eyes fluttered open as he rubbed Roman's back a bit feeling this intense fear wash over him... Roman's fear. "Roman, it's ok."

"D-Don't leave." Roman whimpered as he shook bad making Virgil really worried. Roman was having a nightmare and he wasn't happy about it at all. "S-Storm-m..."

"I'm here, Love. I'm here..."

"Virgil." Roman cried out as he clutched Virgil's hoodie tightly. "Don't leave me. Don't..." Virgil frowned as he just held the man letting his eyes slip shut again, hoping Roman would feel his touch eventually. "Don't leave me."

"I'm not going anywhere, Roman." Roman fussed slightly moving his arms tilled there were warp around him gripping the back of his hoodie like a vice. Virgil didn't mind. He could feel just how terrified the other was. "I'm right here."

"Don't go. I need you." Virgil felt his heart break as Roman let out a very pained breath. "I need you. Don't do it. Don't..." Virgil opened his eyes again, them glowing with worry, as he brushed Roman's hair back and gasped. Images flashed through his mind as he tuned into his loves nightmare. It completely shattered his heart. "Virgil, don't. Please? Don't do this..." Flashed of the day he died played on repeat burning through his mind as he felt his love shudder in his arms. "Virgil don't." He didn't know how to help him. In his mind, he could see Roman fighting against Thomas to get free so he could save him. He knew how this went. Roman didn't get free. "You can't. You just can't... You never gave me an answer." Virgil frowned in guilt at the desperation that filled his love. "Huh? Love... You never gave me an answer. I asked you to marry me... You never gave me an answer." Virgil glanced over to the 'other' him and he could feel as Roman's fear intensified.  "No. No, love... I can't save you again. Please don't do this! THOMAS, FUCKING STOP HIM! You never gave me an answer!"

"I'm sorry, Love." Virgil tuned out the rest. The only thing that brought him back to the nightmare was Roman screaming out in pain as the other Virgili died. He couldn't take it. He... He didn't see this part. He was dead and with hades. He never saw how broken Roman was until after. To be honest, he didn't like seeing it now. He heard the real Roman whimper in his arms desperately clinging to him terrified Virgil would just vanish and it all tore him apart. Virgil quickly made his way over to the dream Roman and smiled as he put a hand to his shoulder making his eyes snap up in shock.

"You need to wake up now, Princey." Roman's eyes flashed a bright pink in the dream just seconds before the real one snapped up panting as he clutched his chest tightly. Virgil frowned as he looked over to see him still crying badly. "Roman?"

"I don't... I can't..." Roman groaned as he raked his hands through his hair. "Why can't I remember? Why can't I ever remember?"

"You do." Roman tensed as Virgil tried to grab his arm. "You do it's just not right at the forefront anymore."

"I want to remember, Virgil." Virgil sighed as he shook his head.

"I don't know if you should."
