"Deceit?" Roman just walked on with Virgil trailing behind highly confused. "Roman's who's Deceit?"
"Thomas right-hand man." Virgil froze up as Roman sighed and looked away. "Or at least he was before Thomas became a god. These two practically ruled over hell. They were the strongest Demons ever created."
"But Thomas became a god... meaning... shouldn't Deceit be the strongest now?" Roman's eyes flashed as Virgil took his hand noticing the pain in him right away. "Roman, what aren't you telling me?"
"It's nothing, Virgil. Really, It's ok."
"There is something you're not telling me, Roman. My fath... Logan taught me how to read people. I may not be the best but I know when people are scared." Virgil took his hand in his and frowned as he stared into Roman's eyes. "What are you afraid of?"
"It's just... I know Deceit. Not... Not personally but I know of him. I know the kind of person he is. He's not... He was Thomas's best soldier. Now he's the Prince of all demons. Far stronger than he was back then not to mention he has the fucking King is his god damn pocket." Roman frowned as he shook his head pulling away from Virgil who just watched with sad eyes. "It's not safe. It's one thing if I were to go but I can't leave you alone... I made a promise to stay by your side. Virgil... I'm scared for you."
"That's not the only thing and you know it."
"Virgil, please you have to understand..." Virgil smiled as he shook his head shushing the man before he could get any worse.
"I'm not judging you, Roman. I'm sure whatever it is isn't bad I just..." The wind tore through them both scaring the shit out of Roman who jumped and stepped back to put some distance between him and Virgil. "God damn it. Really? Still?"
"It's ok Virgil. I understand why they don't... trust me." Roman sighed as he pointed off lazily towards the peer and Virgil frowned. "I'm gonna get us a boat."
Virgil stood there for so long just waiting. The wind kept trying to talk to him but Virgil didn't listen. It wasn't saying anything nice anyway. All it kept saying was don't trust Roman. That Roman's a bad guy. That Roman would hurt him. That Roman... tears pricked at Virgil's eyes as he tried to tune it all out. It wasn't true anyway. Since they've met Roman's been nothing but kind. He's doing everything he can to help. It just wasn't fair.
Virgil spotted Roman smiling over at him and he couldn't help but smile back. Roman waved him over and the wind tried to stop him. Obviously Roman noticed it and Virgil watched that smile fall.
"Knock it off." Virgil growled as he ran over only for Roman to sigh and shake his head. "Ro..."
"It's ok. Like I said. I understand." Roman gestured to this smaller boat and smiled as Virgil's eyes went wide. "It's ours for the trip." Roman shot this look over to the caption and watched as they started the boat.
"Wait, what?" Roman laughed as he took Virgil's hand and started pulling him aboard. "What do you mean it's ours?"
"I mean I rented us a private boat." Roman beamed as he spun around the deck with a laugh. "What do you think? I didn't want to go too big cuz it's just us and I knew you would get pissed but I also didn't want to just get a ticket for something because of your anxiety." Roman froze with this huge grin on his face as Virgil just stared at him. "It's ok... right? I mean... I made the right choice?" The boat started to move pulling away from the mainland as Virgil just... He didn't even know.
"How the hell did you pay for this?" Roman laughed as he walked back over to Virgil with a smile.
"I told you I'm kinda famous. I make money from the odd jobs I do around plus the plays I write and the time when I act..."
