"Colt!" Virgil threw up a shield as Alex shot arrows around. Colt could hear how each one whizzed passed but he couldn't see. His vision was blocked by the shield. "Head down, moron." Virgil teased as he summoned his knives.
"But I could..." Colt clammed up and nodded as let the god guard him.
"Where are we going, Babe?" Alex called over as he fired up at the light sending sparks raining down on some guards who were then taken out by Virgil in the dark.
"The woods." Colt jumped at the shield dropped and he tensed seeing all the bodies on the floor around him. Virgil sighed as he gently took Colt's hand making the youngest's eyes snapped up. "I'm sorry. It's just..."
"You know these men. I understand. I'm not judging you for feeling upset. But we have to go... we can't stop." Colt nodded as he let the god drag him off with Alex following close behind.
"We need to head towards the woods. Once we pass that border we can use it to hide us." Virgil smiled as Colt relayed his plan much calmer now. "The woods are thick and dense. They would have to follow us on foot... and the twins personally can't enter."
"Why not?" Colt smirked as they all turned down a hall.
"When they were younger they got themself lost in there. I don't know all the details but... Let's just say now the avoid it at any cost.." Colt slid a bit as they ran up to a door. "Once we get there... We're home free."
"You have to get there first." Colt crashed as he looked back to see Damien smiling brightly. "Hello, brother."
"Colt!" Virgil pulled Colt back into Alex's arms who held the human tightly with black eyes. Damien just laughed as he held his cane tightly.
"It's a sword!" Colt called out making Virgil's eyes narrow. Damien just clicked his tongue as he twisted the head of the cane and pulled out a blade.
"Telling all our secrets... just like mom."
"SHE DIDN'T DO A THING!" Colt yelled out as Alex held him back. "Mother simply couldn't stand all the violence."
"A war isn't won through talking." Damien laughed as he held his sword outpointed right at his brother's throat. "Mother was just too weak to stomach what needed to happen. Weak..."
"A trait she passed down to you." Colt glared as his brother just shrugged. "I mean... You were always weak. Doing everything you could in a diplomatic way. And I thought I was the manipulator."
"I did what I had to." Colt growled as he looked around. They had to get through that door. They would never make it if they didn't... and his brother knew that. Colt's eyes narrowed as he slowly started to step back away pulling his gun out, despite not having any bullet's.
"And another thing... Father made sure we all knew how to handle a blade." Damien lulled as he walked farther into the room, the other two making sure to stand in between the brothers. "Yet you... chose a gun. A gun and all your fancy gadgets."
"Hey." Colt smirked as he waved his gun a bit. "There's a lot you can too with tech. The possibilities... creativity... You all just lack imagination. Nothing but blood obsessed..."Colt froze as his back hit the wall.
"The pipsqueak should really learn his place." Damien hissed as he went to attack only Alex to jump in and block with his bow.
"Get him out of here!" He yelled making Virgil tense in realization. Alex frowned as kicked Damien back. "Go, Virgil. Get Colt out of here."
"Wait no!" Colt yelled as Virgil reluctantly grabbed his arm and ran for the door. "No! Alex!"
"You promised, Colt." Colt crashed as he yanked his hand from Virgil's grip.
"To hell with the promise. I'm not..." Alex fired his arrows as Damien growled and hit them out of the air with his sword. "I don't... I can't leave you. Alex?!"
"Virgil, get him out of here!" Alex grunted as he went flying back into a wall. "They're eyes met for a split second as Colt watched his brother start to reach behind him.
"ALEX?!"
"Don't. Look. Back." The door shut just as a gunshot rang through turning Colt's blood to ice. Virgil was quick in melting the handle watching as it jangled but wouldn't open.
"We need to go."
"But Alex." Virgil frowned as he just shook his head and dragged Colt off who was just so broken at this point. "But... But he... He's you're demi. Do something."
"I can't." Colt frowned as Virgil quickly wiped his tears away. "It's already too late. Right now, my focus has to be on you."
"I'm not that important."
"Colt, you are the only thing that can make sure this place comes crashing down." Colt's eyes set as Virgil didn't even look back at him. "Without you... they won't stop. Many innocent lives will be lost. Your the only thing that can stop that. That makes you the most important." They managed to get outside and Colt's eyes lit up seeing the wooded border.
"Virgil, It's right..." Colt braced himself as Virgil literally through him forward, throwing up a shield as gunfire shot around them. "VIRGIL!"
"Don't stop, Colt." Colt flinched as he heard the haunting lull of his sisters lullaby. Virgil just smiled as he resummoned his knives. "Don't look back." Colt could only nod as he took off. He could feel the burning in his throat as he had to laugh at himself. Look at him... Caring for the wellbeing of a god. His father would run him through. A scream tore through the air making Colt stumble. His heart just dropped as he forced himself to look back and find Virgil on his knees with his sister smiling down at him. They won't kill him. Not Virgil... He's the only god they have. They need him. Celine smirked as she looked up and met his gaze making Colt flinch. Just run...
Colt groaned at himself as he took back off. He just had to make it to the tree line. Once he passed that he could... He cried out as this sharp pain burned through him, the sound of his sister's laughter cutting through the air. He gasped as he forced himself to continue, listening to the sound of gunfire. The second he passed the tree line he stumbled, holding a tree for support, as he moved his hand away from his side only to see the dark red that covered it. His eyes narrowed as he looked back, trying hard not to let himself cry. Virgil was being yanked back to his feet by guards as Celine just stared him down.
"Find Roman." Colt whispered to himself as he stumbled back, adrenaline being the only thing keeping him standing. Thunder roared above them as it began to rain. "Find Roman... don't look back. Colt forced himself to look away as turned and just ran. "I'm sorry."
Roman frowned as this presence filled the air. His eyes narrowed as he looked up fully expecting it to be Hades or something, who was always checking in on him because of everything that happened. He never got the chance to ask though as this weak knock sounded on his door. Roman's heart just dropped as he forced himself up to his feet and fixed himself up, not wanting to look as completely broken as he felt.
"Ye..." Roman froze up instantly at the sight of the man before him. He couldn't hold back the growl that escaped him. "Colt." Colt just smiled as he stood there at his door in the pouring rain. "What te ever lovin' god are ye doin' 'ere?"
"I..." Colt winced making Roman snap back finally noticing how the human was holding his side. "I... I'm sorry. I..." Before Roman could even blink he found himself holding Colt, having caught him before he could fall.
"Feck." Roman groaned as he glanced down seeing the blook staining the others shit and his face softened. He carefully moved the man's hand away frowning at how Colt whimpered at the action. "Ye... Yer shot?" Roman sighed as he carefully picked himself up, hating himself for even thinking of doing this but... He was a prince. "Hold on. Let me get ye inside."
