"Oh no." Virgil frowned as he held his hand out feeling the fall of rain and his eyes filled with pain. "Really?" Roman's eyes darkened in concern until he felt it to and he groaned. "It's raining."
"Well, it isn't that..." Roman clammed up with a sigh as the small sprinkle turned into a complete downpour. " I stand corrected." Roman's eyes narrowed as he looked over at the pyre only to frown in confusion over Patton looking completely dry. Lightning cracked across the sky and he lit up with joy.
"That's it. That's it... it's ruined. We can't light the pyre in the..." Roman smiled as he pointed over at Patton cutting Virgil off. "What?"
"It'll still light, Virgil." Thunder boomed overhead making the younger jump as Roman just beamed. "The gods are simply sending him off." Virgil's eyes went as Roman giggled. "Zeus is making a show."
"Oh my..." Roman nodded as he just took a deep breath.
"So, my love... What are we doing?" Virgil's eyes went wide as looked over at the good in complete fear. "You hadn't planned for this had you?"
"I thought he would be talking." Virgil glanced over to see Logan just standing there with tears streaming down his face and he sighed. "I really don't want to..."
"I might have something but I don't want to impose."
"Please Roman?" The exgod just smiled as he slowly let go of Virgil and moved over to whisper in Logan's ear. Logan's eyes went wide filled with shock as he quickly nodded and took Roman's hand. Roman gestured for Virgil to follow as he smiled as led Logan over to Patton. "Ro, what..."
"I need you two to help me as I don't really have memories of him." Virgil's eyes went wide as Roman nodded. Roman took a deep breath, eyes going white as he held his hands out summoning a bright beautiful flame. Logan's eyes went wide as Roman gave him one last glance for confirmation. Logan nodded as suddenly Patton was ablaze with the most glorious fire anyone had ever seen. The whole place when absolutely silent as Roman once again took the two's hands, stepping back as the fire grew into the sky. "Now... I need you to think about him." Virgil's eyes snapped over to see Roman's white eyes glowing so brightly he focused completely on the flame. "Trust me. I need you to think about..." Images filled the god's mind as he looked over to see Logan's eyes closed, his hand over the heart pin, and he smiled. "Good. That's really good."
"Roman, what are you doing?"
"You'll see... just think of your dad, Virgil. Please?" Virgil nodded as he closed his eyes and thought about every happy memory he could think of. He felt as Roman squeezed his hand again before letting go and suddenly there was his gasp from the crowd. No not one single gasp. The crowd gasped... collectively. Virgil's eyes shot open and all the air left him completely. Roman had to literally catch him as he lost his balance. "Hey... You ok? Virge?"
"Dad?" Roman smiled as he followed Virgil's gaze to find that familiar smiley face in the flame. He was laughing as he chased this little bird around, a tiny Virgil at his side giggling like crazy. The scene changed and they were watching as Patton picked flowers and sat in the grass as he taught a little Virgil how to make a flower crown. It changed again and they were watching Logan and Patton dance their first dance as a married couple at their wedding reception. Virgil was a sobbing mess as he just latched on to his love. "What? What did you do?"
"I used your memories to create a living slide show in the fire." Roman held him close as Virgil just stared off into the flame. Now he was watching as Patton was running through the sand until he got to the water when Logan caught him and picked him up making him giggle and kick like crazy. "Do you like it?"
"Roman, it's... fucking perfect." The scene shifted to show Patton holding a baby Virgil in his arms with Logan behind him smiling fondly... one happy family. Logan slowly step forward giving Roman a questioning look who only nodded in understanding. Logan walked forward practically into the flame that didn't burn at all. He could see Patton just laying there in the pyre but his focus went to the Patton in the flame that was singing and dancing about with a hairbrush for a mic.
Logan's hand brushed the fire and it suddenly changed. Logan could only cry more as he Patton's sat there on this bed with a confused look on his face. Logan smiled as he mouthed the word silently watching Patton's eyes go wide with pure elation. It was the first time he had ever said 'I love you'. He had botched it, which is why he was so confused at first. Logan just could get the words out. He had to resort to his sims game just to get Patton to understand somewhat of what was going on. They still laughed about it far into their relationship.
His eyes looked up and once again he was watching as Patton's confused face filled the flame. He melted under it as his eyes filled with pure shock. He looked so handsome that night. The two had walked the shoreline at night. It was such a beautiful and clear night... the perfect night. Logan watched as in the fire he dropped to one knew and he broke down. His eyes met with the real Patton and he just smiled.
"Goodbye, my sweet angel." Logan turned away and gave Roman one last nod before turning back to the crowd and walking off. The fire seemed to explode with color, all different hues as it reached out into the cosmos above. Each color held a different memory as the pure white of it hung tight to the body encasing Patton like his own personal angelwings... as everything turned to ash. Virgil cried out as he buried himself into Roman who just stood there supporting him as he watched the flames play on. Thunder roared loudly as the wind spun around sending the flames dancing. The ocean crashed and Roman smiled in thought.
"Patton was very much loved, Virgil." He could feel his love shaking in his arms as he pressed a kiss to his hair. "He'll be cared for, I can promise."
"Thank you, R-Ro." Roman melted completely as Virgil looked back up at him with teary yet love-filled eyes. "I don't know what I would have done without you."
