"Katara! Why are only you here?" you embraced your friend. "I came to save you!"
"Sorry, Katara, but we already have a plan. But it's just you here, right? Nobody else we know came with you?" you pulled her away from you, your hands gripping her shoulders. "No. What's your plan, Y/N?" you said it quickly, muttering it so the guards couldn't hear. She nodded along, asking some questions. You explained that you still had the dye for your eyes, and that you were planning to pretend to be the perfect housewife.
"Tyro," you patted the man's back. "two nights from now is the night. I'll refreeze the water. My friend is a waterbender, and if that doesn't work, my other friend has a flying bison. If my plan fails, they'll get you out."
"You haven't sent word out to Zhao yet, though." he pointed out.
"While you have a very valid point, I know Zhao. I'm his little trophy wife, and he'd do anything to keep me by his side. He'll be here when we expect it, I know it."
"If he loves you so much, then why didn't he bring you with him?" a woman countered. Man, you should really learn the names of these people.
"He believes that women shouldn't see battle. Plus, he really wanted to get me pregnant." you shuddered, thinking about the night of your children's conception. "And then I did. So now we're here. The plan is two nights from now. Make sure everyone knows. Can you guys do that?" they nodded. "Good. I need to go speak with the warden.""What is it, you dirty earthbender. Don't waste my time." the warden picked at his nails. "You know the missing Princess Y/N, right?" he nodded. "I know her whereabouts." you explained that you had "met" her, and you knew where she was staying. You also told him to get the word out immediately, because it would be a shame if he was in an accident, right?
He wrote the letter with shaky hands, handing it to one of the soldiers to mail. "Good. now, that better get to him soon, or," your hand ran a hand up his chest, stopping at his throat. "I'm a very powerful bender." you left, a shaking warden left behind.
"Did you do it?" you plopped down next to Haru, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and cuddling into him. "I did." Katara started to coo about how you looked together. "How did you even do it? The warden has soldiers." Haru furrowed his brows.
"I threatened him. Everyone has a fear of death, and I just played on that." Katara made an offended noise. "How could you do that, Y/N? He's a person, too!" you rolled your eyes, ignoring her. But she wasn't done. "You know, you're really turning into a Fire Nation princess, down to the types of threats you give!"
You stiffened, and Katara realized that she hit a nerve. "You don't know me, Katara. I do what I have to do."
"You don't have to threaten to kill people!" she shouted, standing up. "I don't think you understand, Katara."
"I do! I understand that you're just a privileged princess!" you got up, ignoring Haru's protests. "You wanna pull my status on me? In front of everyone? Do you even know what you've done?" she nodded, her fists clenching as she stared you down.
"You probably are just a Fire Nation spy!" people gasped at her bold statement. Someone tried to step in, but they were held back. "Okay. You caught me, I'm a Fire Nation spy. I ran away from a perfect life for no reason. I just want attention. Is that all of your accusations, or is there anything else?"
"Do you even care about the lives of these people?" she demanded, disregarding your previous sarcasm.
"Alright. It's nice to know your true opinion of me, Katara. I suppose that's all, now?" your voice was dead, your eyes emotionless. "You're just proving all of my points!"
"I know.""Why don't you tell me what you actually think?"
"Because I have no use to. I've told you everything you need to know. I'm pregnant, I'm a princess of the Fire Nation, and I'm running from my husband. You know my kids' names. You know about my brother. What I think doesn't matter." you started to hobble away, but Katara caught your wrist.
"Are you mad about yesterday? If so, I'm sorry. You didn't deserve my harsh words." she pulled you into a hug, and you started to struggle. "Let me go." your voice was firm, and out of surprise her grip loosened. You wormed your way out, leaning on Haru, who had stood up during your fight with the waterbender.
"I'm sorry, Katara. But no. I'm not going to do this to you. We'll get these earthbenders out, and then we'll head to the next town for your endeavors. I'll stay there. You move on. We'll forget about each other. It's how the world works." you pinched the bridge of your nose.
"No! You have to come with us! We need you!" she was acting like a child, and you were getting tired of it quickly.
"No. My children are getting the life they deserve! I'm not living the life of a nomad just because you want backup in battle! Remember why I joined you all in the first place!" you started to pace, gripping your hair. "I understand that you're stressed Y/N, but we need you! You're a powerful bender, and you can help stop the Fire Nation! It would help out the lives of your kids!" Katara must've forgotten that you were on a Fire Nation ship.
"My kids will be born before we will even reach the Fire Nation! What then? We'll be travelling with two infants! Two infants that can't be airborne! Are you not thinking?"
"You can't do this, Y/N!" you scoffed. "Yeah? You know what you can't do? Get in the way of my plans. I will do anything for my children, fighting you included. Is that what you want?" your threat snapped her out of her anger. "Y/N, you know that's not-"
"Save it. I'm done. Go find another firebender to help you, I'm staying here. I'm getting these earthbenders out, and I'll find my place in their village. I'll get a job. I'll fight off the Fire Nation." Katara reached out, her fingers barely skimming your arm.
"You can't mean that, Y/N."
"Oh, but I do. I'm tired, Katara. I want to settle down and live a life of my own. It's not that hard. This conversation is over. You know the plan." you sat back down, pulling Haru with you as you ignored Katara's attempts of fixing the situation.
