CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

"Oh. Oh no." you covered your mouth, seeing the insignia of the Fire Nation. Your Fire Nation. "Nothing's untouchable, Aang." you joined the conversation.

"I'm going in to find Bumi." Aang started to walk, and you grabbed his wrist. "Aang, you can't." he shook you off. "We don't even know if he's..." Sokka trailed off, and Aang's eyes narrowed. "If he's what?"

"Around."

"Hey, you! Men, look at her. She looks like the missing princess, no?" you chuckled, approaching the soldiers. Katara had Azula and Zuko, so you had free reign in what you could do. You jerked the one who spoke's chin down, pressing a kiss to his lips. "The name's Zara. These are my siblings." you gestured for your friends to leave as you kissed the soldier again.

"Sorry about breaking the curfew, soldiers. We're heading home now." you turned to leave, but the leader stopped you. "You, boy. What are those marks on your neck?" you froze, trying to come up with a cover, but Katara already had one in mind.

"My brother has pentapox. It's very contagious." the leader rubbed his chin. "I feel like I've heard of that before." Sokka started to act sick, and the soldiers ran away. "Why did you kiss him, Y/N?" Katara questioned. "It was a good distraction. I used it to try and mess up his train of thought while the three of you left."
"It's the resistance!" a woman yelled, and your friends started to run. "Wait! Take Zuko and Azula!" you thrust your children into Aang's arms. "I'll hold them off! Run!" a girl ran up to you, throwing knives.

"Mai?" you asked, recognizing the girl. "Mai." you scowled, melting her knives with fire. She continued to throw the knives, and you continued to melt them. Damn. Mai, I knew you were bad, but I can't believe that you don't recognize me. You started to run backwards, catching up with your friends and continuing to melt Mai's knives.

The ground opened up beneath you, and you grabbed onto Aang as he fell, making him land on top of you to ensure Zuko and Azula's safety. "The resistance! Aang, give me my kids back." The resistance explained that King Bumi surrendered before they could even fight.

You scratched the pentapus, making it release as you pulled it off of the boy's face. "You're very pretty, miss." he shyly squirmed, and you pulled him in for a hug. "Thanks, kid. It means a lot." it really did. Compliments were rare, even when you were with your friends.

The citizens acted sick, and you followed their lead, getting everyone out of the city. "Great work, everyone!" you high fived the kid that was on your hip. You gave him back to his mom as everybody set up camp.

"We did a headcount." you stiffened, starting to panic. "Did we leave someone behind? Oh, no." the soldier placed a comforting hand on your shoulder. "We have an extra." you turned your eyes to a cooing baby. "Shit. That must be an important baby. Look at his clothes." you scooped him up.

"Wait. How will we feed him?" a soldier wondered. You opened his mouth, trying to find any teeth. "You look young enough...I can feed him." At that moment, your own kids started to cry. "Okay, guys. I can feed them." you moved to sit by a campfire, starting to feed Zuko and Azula first.

Katara, Aang, Sokka and a soldier sat by you. "Look at your face." you cooed to the baby, booping his nose as he sucked on your breast. "He won't be cute for long." a soldier said, and Katara scowled, holding Zuko and Azula. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"That baby will grow up, and he will join the Fire Nation army." you sighed, looking down at the child in your arms. "How can someone that cute join the Fire Nation army?"

"He's right." your voice was grave. "He will grow up, and he will join the Fire Nation army. This baby will be trained to kill, and nothing else. It's why I ran, Katara. I didn't want that life for my own son."

"Mai, you want your brother, right?" you held the child in your arms. Azula remarked something about the trade, and you realized what was about to happen. Azula tried to attack Aang, but he jumped on top of Bumi's coffin thing. So she moved onto you.

She smirked, and you realized you were in big trouble. Ty Lee gasped, and you had to dodge Azula's lightning. You blocked her attack, but you almost fell off the edge. You slid down the ladder, Ty Lee starting to chase you.

You spat onto the floor, still holding Mai's brother. She seemed to notice something, before shrugging it off, leaping towards you. You fended her off, placing the kid to the side. You smiled at her, evading her attack. You released a blast of fire, knocking her back.

At that moment, Sokka appeared on top of Appa's back. He helped you onto Appa's back, and you grabbed the child, setting him down next to you. Mai was taunting Katara, but you didn't hear it as you cruelly lit one of her buns on fire. Sokka hit Mai in the head with his boomerang, and then you were off to find Aang and Bumi, who Azula was chasing.

You set the child down, Aang watching from the rooftop. "Sir, ma'am," you grabbed the couple's attention, holding their son. "Tom-Tom!" the woman cried, taking her son out of your hands and embracing you. "Thank you so much! What can I do to repay you?" she sobbed into your clothes.

"Nothing, ma'am. I'm a mother myself," you gestured to your scarf, where your sleeping children lay. "and I can't imagine how painful it would be to lose my son or daughter. Tom-Tom was taken care of during his stay, so please don't worry."

"Thank you for bringing us back our son. Are you sure that there isn't any way we could repay you?"

"Nope."
