Vada

"We shouldn't take too long," Mary told her pulling on her coat over her beautiful, deep red dress, "and since it's already 8pm Luke and Lyla should be in bed soon" she continued.

"Our numbers are on the fridge should you need anything" the man, who had introduced himself as George, told her, fixing his silver hair. He was quite tall, yet again everybody was next to Vada, and held quite a lot of body weight.

"I'm sure we'll be fine" Vada smiled, looking around the large living room.

The house was huge, like Fresh Prince of BelAir huge. It had the same pillars and balcony above the door that the show did, as well as the old timey furniture.

"Okay, goodbye love" Mary mused walking briskly out of the door, quickly followed by George.

Vada turned to the room, noticing a few building blocks on the floor along with other toys. She walked over and picked them up, seeing them leading behind the sofa.

"Vada!" A small voice called from behind the sofa, Luke sat there with his legs out stretched, a small colourful building half finished between them.

"Hey, Luke" she smiled ruffling his hair. He got up and jumped at her, wrapping his small arms around her neck as she stood up.

"Will you read me a bedtime story?"

"Sure I will bud," she told him walking up the stairs, "I just need to meet your sister first"

"Oh!" He squealed, wriggling his legs to be let down, "come on its this way!" He ran passed a few rooms and towards a white door, looking around she realised all of the doors were white, not standing out in the cream hallway.

He reached up and pulled down the handle pushing the door open. Surprisingly, the room was tidy for a young girl.

The bed was a double, a plain white comforter on it, a single brown teddy bear sat tucked under the cover.

The walls were full of framed pieces of paper, mostly certifications and photos of horses. Medals hung from a shelf that held random objects; snow globes, photo frames, glass animals.

To put it blankly, it didn't look like a young girls bedroom. There were no toys, not even boxes to keep toys in, which surprised Vada.

"Lyla! Look it's Vada" Luke shouted, pulling Vada more into the room.

Finally Vada saw the small girl, she was dressed in a baby pink onesie with her hair hanging to her shoulders, she had a brush in one hand and a few bobbles in the other.

"Can you braid my hair?" She asked, sniffing, not even a hello.

"Yeah, sure" she walked over to the small girl and started to braid it.

"I'm Lyla, i'm seven" she told Vada, holding up seven fingers as Luke sat next to her.

"I'm four" he told her, pushing down two of her fingers.

"No, stupid that's five" Lyla told him, putting her last finger down.

"Don't call me stupid" he replied, slapping her arm, she slapped his arm back.
