Vada

"Just start from the beginning, hun" the large, male police officer told her, scratching his nose.

"Well, I met Mary at an aquarium-"

"Maybe not that far back" he cut in, opening the file and looking through it. Vada quickly shut her mouth, nervously playing with her fingers.

"Oh...sorry" she whispered looking between the two officers.

The one who had spoke to her before, Officer Flynn as it said on his police vest, was an old over weight man, he must have been reaching sixty. He didn't seem interested in being there at all, unlike his partner, Officer Gray. She was younger, thirty maybe, with her hair tied back a little too tight and a fringe framing her face.

"Don't be worried, sweetheart," Officer Gray offered her a sweet smile, "continue when you're ready"

Vada nodded, swallowing deeply, she kept her eyes on Officer Gray, she seemed a lot nicer than Flynn.

"She offered me a job, to be a nanny"

"For Lily, Luke and Lila?" She interrupted, looking down at her notes.

"Lyla" Vada corrected, continuing when Gray nodded for her to, "the first few times I went were fine, but then-then...um" Flynn let out a sigh, looking around the room in an attempt not to roll his eyes.

"Take your time" Officer Gray told her, pushing a plastic cup of water towards her.

Vada took it, slowly taking a sip before putting it down.

"Then he, he forced himself on me... when Mary went upstairs" Vada let her head fall.

"Is that all?" Her head snapped towards the old man, who seemed bored, "in my day that was noth-"

"Fylnn!" Officer Gray cut in, her eyes burning with frustration, "I suggest you leave the room before I take this to a higher authority" they had a mini staring match as he tried to figure out if she was bluffing. Officer Gray clearly wasn't taking any shit today.

"Fine" he sighed, pushing his chair out loudly, basically storming out of the room.

"I am so sorry for his behaviour" she shook her head, taking hold of Vadas hand across the table, "you are so incredibly brave for speaking out about this" Vada nodded softly, the tears in her eyes threatening to spill.

"You have encouraged many of the other girls to come forward too, and I want you to know that you may have saved many other girls from the same fate" Officer Gray told her, it did make Vada feel better in a way.

Sure, she couldn't save the girls before her and she couldn't save herself, but at least she could be sound in mind knowing that this would never happen to another girl, as long as he was charged this is.

"And I want you to know that I, as well as many other women who will be processing this case, will do everything in our power to have this creep behind bars where he belongs"

Through the strain in her voice Vada could tell that this hit Gray personally, and that she wasn't going to let George get away with what he had done.

"Thank you..." Vada whispered, standing up to leave the room, proud of herself for being brave enough to come forward.

She felt safe back in Jadens arms once she had got back to the waiting room. Jaden was stood up, pacing back and forth, when she came back, ready to comfort her as soon as he could. Avani and Anthony were sat in metal chairs against the wall, he had his arm around her, Avani looked as if she had been crying.

Apart from that there were mainly young girls in the room, apart from the occasional scared looking mother, and all of them seemed to be looking at her.

"Excuse me..." one stood up, walking towards her, with her hand out stretched to shake, "my name is Faith, are you Vada"

"Um..yes" Vada answered uncertainly, startled even more when more of the young girls stood up and made their way over.

"Thank you so much" Faith pulled her in for a tight hug, Vada could hear her sobbing as she hugged her back, "he ruined my life, I haven't felt safe for the last two years, thank you for being brave enough to do it"

"You've helped us all," another cut in, she had her arm around a younger girl, sixteen maybe, "without you we wouldn't be getting justice"

Vada didn't know what to say as she looked around the small group, there was only five or six girls, but every single one of them held a different story that would build the case stronger against George.

"I didn't know that it was this big of a deal"

"Hes ruined my life," the sixteen year old told her, "I can't trust anybody because of him, but knowing that he could be behind bars, thats helped me so much"

Vada felt like crying, again. George had done this before, and soon enough he wouldn't be able to again.

Vada sat down with the group for twenty minutes, exchanging stories and congratulations on their attacker being convicted. Jaden sat and watched Vada as she did so.

He couldn't believe how brave she had been, to come forward, but he also felt incredibly guilty. If he hadn't cheated on her months ago this whole thing would have happened earlier, and these girls could have already seen justice, but now they would have had to have a few extra months in pain, and it was his fault.

"Vada..." a voice called as the door opened, a tired looking Mary came through, a tissue in her hand and smudged eye makeup.

"Mary" she said, standing up to hug the older women when she started to cry again, before taking her over to the group, who looked sceptical, after all she was the women who enabled this to continue for so long.

"I am so sorry, to all of you. I should have put a stop to this as soon as it happened, but I didn't, and for that I can do nothing but apologise" she gulped, "and I want you all to know that I've regretted hiding his misdoings since this all started, I understand if you can't, but please find it in your hearts to forgive me" She finally looked up, looking around the group.

She was genuinely apologetic, sorrow in her eyes for her husbands mistakes. But all of the girls knew that Mary wasn't to blame, she was in love and would have done anything to save him.

"Of course we forgive you Mary"
