You and Yaku have been best friends since elementary school, it was all because you shared a pencil with him.

Now that you're both in high school you two started to drift apart, at the beginning you two would walk to school and back home together.

But now he goes to school alone and walks home with the volleyball team, you still went to the games but he never noticed you in the crowd.

One day you were making your way to school and saw him, but he was with a girl.

"Hi Y/n!" He shouted once he saw you from the entrance, he motioned you to come to him and you obeyed.

"Y/n I know we haven't talk to each other for a while but I want you to met my girlfriend." He said as he looks to the girl next to him.

"O-oh? A girlfriend?" You said in shock.

You never really thought about it but, something in the chest made you feel heavy. Your heart sank when he mentioned his girlfriend.

"Yeah, well we should be going now bye!" He said while grabbing her hand and leading her to class.

He left you there, speechless and heartbroken. You were confused and sad at the same time.

"Since when did I start liking him?" You thought to yourself, memories of you two would come flashing in your head till it went to this certain moment of you two.

You both were 7 at the time and didn't know much of the world that you do now.

"Y/n!" Yaku shouted from the playground.

You were busy picking flowers till you heard his voice and looked up.

"Yes Yaku?" You questioned.

"Can we make a promise?" He said as he came closer to you.

"When we get older, promise me that we'll become lovers!" He said flustered.

You both stayed in silence till you broke it.

Yaku felt his heart flutter a little, he began to smile widely.

"I'll never hurt you Y/n, I'll always protect you till the day I die!" He said while holding up his pinky.

You looked at his pinky and smiled as you placed your pinky on his.

"I promise." You both said.

You felt tears starting to form in your eyes.

That was the day that you realized that you didn't only like Yaku but you loved him too.

You began to make your way to class once you went back into reality.

All day you were zoning out in class, it was till the last bell rang and you were the first one out.

As you were walking you happened to walk past the gym and see Yaku and the volleyball team.

You saw Yaku saving the ball that was close to hitting the floor but knowing him he saved it like his life depended on it.

A smilie came across your faces and you looked down as you remember the games you went to all the time.

"Did you see that!" You heard him say, you quickly looked up thinking he was talking to you him like how he used to when you saw them practice.

But you saw where he was looking at and it was to his girlfriend.

Your smile faded as you thought you lost your best friend forever.

You couldn't hold back the tears as they dropped from your eyes.

The volleyball team looked at the entrance and saw you there crying out the pain that was in your heart.

"Y-y/n?!" Yaku shouted as he saw you crying.

You realized he saw you and you ran out before he could catch up to you.

You ran far enough to the entrance and looked back as you saw Yaku had caught up to you.

"Y/n? What's wrong?" He said coming close to you.

"Yaku...remember the time that we were at the park?" You said looking down stopping your tears.

"Um yeah." He said getting confused.

"Do you remember that promise we made?" You said as you were remembering the moment.

"What are you going to say Y/n?" Yaku said as he realized what promise you were saying.

"Are you still going to be my lover Yaku?" You said looking up with your eyes glossy from the tears you shedded earlier.

"Y-y/n...." He said as he turned away, he looked back and saw his girlfriend that was standing there.

He looked at her and then back at you, he didn't know what to do.

"Yaku?" His girlfriend said, he turned to face her.

"It's okay, i'll understand." She smiled at him.

"Are you sure?" He said looking at her making sure she meant it.

She nodded as a response.

Yaku looked at you and came closer, once he was close to you he hugged you tightly.

Your legs gave up on you and you fell but he caught you quickly.

"I will be your lover Y/n." He said as he wrapped his arms around your waist.

You smiled widely and you put your arms around his neck and kissed him.

You looked and saw Yaku now ex girlfriend and mouthed out "Thank you".

She smiled and turned around to grab her stuff.

"I love you Y/n, and i'll never break a promise that was made to you." He said smiling and looking at you.

"I love you too Yaku." You said as you pulled him closer and kissed him.
