“WEI YING!!!!! Wei Ying! Why are you doing this?! Wei Ying, tell them the truth please, tell them the truth!! Don't do this, just tell them the truth!!!! WEI YIIIIIIIIIING..........”
Lan Zhan broke out of his nightmare, his voice crying into the dead of night. His breathing was erratic as he sort to figure things out and looked around. Everything was in it's proper place in the lavish bedroom and Lan Zhan slowly regained himself. The heavy storm had passed over leaving only a shallow drizzling shower now in the wee hours. Lan Zhan turned to check the clock and found it to be 4:30 am. It was quite early in the morning but Lan Zhan saw no use in trying to go back to sleep. He couldn't surrender to the grasps of slumber after such a state. With that in mind, Lan Zhan got out of bed and went downstairs for a cup of water.
The house seemed like a haunted space with the effect of the lightning casted against the teal walls and the eerie silence around but that did little to shock Lan Zhan. He was used to it. In fact, he much preferred this mysterious and unknowing presence his house held. It was almost an extension of himself to the place.
He didn't bother with the lights as he knew every inch of those place by touch and directly settled himself before the sink, filling his cup. Besides, there was enough light filtering in through the semi see-through curtains in the kitchen. The running sound of the water filled the silence and Lan Zhan appreciated its presence. He shut off the tap once his cup was full promptly taking a sip to clear his mind and thoughts. The cool feeling of life travelled from his semi parched throat, through his chest and into his system leaving him feel stable and alive. He took his sips slowly and dignified till the last drop then washed his cup and put it back in its place.
Still not wanting to return to bed, Lan Zhan settled in his sitting room onto the plush grey couch and draped a warm blanket over himself. That nightmare..... That dream.... No..... that memory had once again paid visit to his unconscious state and its effects were just as strong as the previous times. It had lodged itself deep in his Ego and soul that Lan Zhan felt its grips deep within. That single piece of memory bore so much confusing, cascading and raging emotions so much so that a stoic person like Lan Zhan was easily affected by it. It was this particular memory that seemed insistent to haunt him for the rest of his life and Lan Zhan was soon reaching the end of his rope with it.
16 years........... It had been 16 years since he had spoken those words. Said that name. 16 years of hardship, wandering, heartache, regret, reflection and drainage. Lan Zhan tried not to think about it but it wasn't easy especially with that damn memory caging him within its clutches.
Wei Ying...... Wei Wuxian. This name, Lan Zhan thought....... this name was more than just a person identification title to him. This name bore a plethora of feelings and volumes of waves for him and probably much more than he let on or even knew himself.Wei Ying.
Lan Zhan had not vocally spoken that name since that day. Not once by mistake or by intention. He had said all he needed to say that day and had locked any remnants of Wei Wuxian deep in the crevices of his heart, far from ever getting found out but that was just for the public. To the rest of the world, Lan Zhan had made himself a part of it in the case that they had forgotten about the existence of Wei Wuxian. To them, he was as good as dead and Lan Zhan didn't deter from that. However, in his solitude, Lan Zhan never stopped even for a second to think about Wuxian. To the world, Lan Zhan had significantly moved on and was in agreement with them but he was just a silent force moving quietly against the tide. He didn't show it at all and never even payed attention if his name was brought up. No. This was his own struggle and battle and Lan Zhan wasn't about to stop now or give up.
The dawn pacingly arrived and Lan Zhan began to prepare for work. He was a well endowed and known entrepreneur in the technological world as the Co-director of Lan Industries Corporations and was one of the youngest under 40 wealthy businessmen. His father had given him that delegation immediately after he had graduated from University and Lan Zhan had proven himself worthy of the title. He ran his business strictly, effectively, efficiently and proficiently. Already with over 800 workers under his wing, Lan Zhan took his role very seriously and dedicatedly and made sure to carry out his work with much intuition and progress.
