We're forced to attend this 'house meeting' that Snape has called for. We were to meet in the Great Hall.
"The Yule ball has been a tradition of the TriWizard Tournament since it's first year. On Christmas Eve night, students of all three school will be representing their houses. Do not... disappoint me." Snape looks right at Crabbe and Goyle. "Like yourselves, I also do not want to be here.. but it is my responsibility as the Head of House to remind you that the Yule ball is first and foremost... a dance." Snape announces while rolling his eyes.
"Snape sounds like he's dying," Tori whispers to me. I try hard not to laugh out loud."Now, may I please have a volunteer?" All the girls seem to fix their posture and the boys try to hide their faces.
Snape looks down the rows of female students, before he says.. "Miss Deveroux, if you please."
I groan loud enough to make sure Snape heard me, and by his reaction...
he sure did.I close my book that I was reading and join him as he's standing in the middle of the hall.
"Why? Why me?" I whisper to him as I stand to his side. He squints his eyes at me before calling out, "Now, gentlemen?"A few boys stood up to volunteer, and I giggle at how many seemed to be eager to dance with me. Snape looks down at me with a confused face, but then looks back up at the group of boys who have stepped forward. A platinum blonde seemed to already be walking towards Snape and I.
"Mr. Malfoy, glad to see you've finally joined us." I focus my attention to the entrance as I see Draco walking up to me.
"Now, Mr. Malfoy, place your hand on Miss Deveroux's waist." A mixture of cheers, jeers, and scoffs came from both the boys and girls side of the room, to which Draco and I both stare at our genders section and shoot them a death glare. That shut them up real quick.
Mr. Filtch began to play the record to a traditional ballroom song. Snape begins to count our steps, in a bored tone. "1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3..."
I start to yawn, while we demonstrate the dance. Draco looks at me offended, "I'm the best dance partner you're gonna get, Joy. Don't look so bored."
-
I'm walking with Draco on our way to our next lesson, when a familiar voice echoes down the corridor in front of us. "Joy!" I groan in realization of who's voice it was. Olivia Beaumont, the bane of my existence.
The half-Veela wannabe princess, dress in blue, walks up to Draco and I.
"It's so nice to see you again, Joy! I hoped I would run into you while we were visiting." She brings me in for a half-hearted hug, to which I don't reciprocate. "Olivia..." I force a smile, "...wish I could say the same." Her gazed wandered off to Draco, "Who's this handsome fellow?"
"Olivia Beaumont. Draco Malfoy."
"A Malfoy?" She raises her eyebrows. "Joy, I didn't know you had a boyfriend!" She reached out to him to squeeze his muscles. Draco raises his eyebrows while looking at me amused. I pulled Draco closer to me and lift his arm so what it's wrapped around my waist. "I didn't know I was required to inform you of my everyday life."
Olivia stares at the both of us before focusing on me."Je me demande comment il se compare aux autres dont vous avez rêvé." (I wonder how he compares to the others you've fancied.)
"éloignez-vous de lui." (Stay away from him.)
"Je ne suis pas ici pour causer des problèmes, Joy. Je voulais simplement retrouver un vieil ami, et peut-être en créer de nouveaux." (I'm not here to cause trouble, Joy. I simply wanted to catch up with an old friend, and maybe make some new ones.)
Olivia smiles, "Well, I'll see you around then!" She flirts with her eyes before saying, "Bye Draco." I scowl at her while she walks away.
I warn Draco, "Stay away from her." He looks at me, his hand still on my waist, "Why? She seems nice." I turn my body, fully facing him. "Stay. Away. From. Her."
I resume walking to our next lesson, Draco running to catch up with me.
"She always gets her way, it's annoying. I thought I was rid of her when I left Beauxbatons." I explain. Draco stands in front of me, "So what's up with you two, then?"
We're standing in front of the door to DADA. I lean against the wall on the side. "Olivia Beaumont never had to work for a thing in her life. Her being half-Veela, got her everything she wanted without her even trying." I sigh. "There was something, or actually someone, in particular that she really wanted but he never paid any attention to her." Draco looks at me confused, "This is relevant because...?"
"The reason he never paid any attention to her... is because he was paying attention to me." Draco's expression dropped. "So, you stole her boyfriend?" I start yelling, "No! I didn't like him! I didn't want him! I didn't even know him!" I take a deep breath in, "She blamed me, and told all the girls at Beauxbatons to steer clear of me." Class was starting soon, so I entered the classroom, walking towards our desk. "Now, every guy that I've..." I paused, I sat on my chair and thought about how I need to be careful with my words, "...gotten close to... she swoops in and finds a way to turn them against me." Draco climbs onto his seat next to me and places his books in front of him.I turn to him with my head down and softy say, "Draco, please stay away from her."
He lifts my chin. "You don't have to worry about me, love. I'm not going anywhere."
